Why don't you just load the PDF from the NYC Subway? It's almost the exact same thing...

I figured someone would do it. I'm just sick of people coming up with half-***** solutions to iPhone apps and claiming they do the same thing when they don't.

Re: [UPDATED 6/9/09]This iPhone App = This WinMo App

I've been checking out these "augmented" apps for the iPhone, and they seem really sweet. I'm a big twitter-er, tweeter?... I use twitter a lot, and this app would be pretty cool. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Vbh7...eature=related

The concept of looking at things around you based on GPS and camera see through is really neat, wish WM would have something like this. It could be used for tons of stuff.

Another idea, an app that shows you nearest gas stations and their prices based on augmented reality. The possibilities are pretty endless for what this could be applied to.

x2! It's rather annoying. I mean these phones have had superior hardware (at least IMHO), but recently Apple has taken all the advantages WM has and applied them to the new iPhone (such as cut and paste), so WM is quickly loosing it's advantage. But on the software side, WM isn't taking Apple concepts and using it, they just don't care....

And I don't care how much you tell me Windows Live is the same as Urban Spoon or any other app, it's a crappy piece of software. The maps are ugly, it's hard to use, and it wastes my time even installing it when it disappoints me every time I use it. It's such a pain, I don't even use the gas function (the only positive aspect of Windows Live), I just drive around till I give in or find the cheap gas myself. Too much of a pain to use.

C'mon Microsoft, step it up! Gah.

exactly how i feel. i don't care about eye candy, but as long as the apps have the same functionality, then i'm happy. and live search is not the same functionality as urbanspoon, no matter how much you want it to be.

problem is, it's not just microsoft... the devs for WM aren't doing anything about it either. Apple doesn't make UrbanSpoon.

very true, of course we're always going to hear the same thing, if we want something so bad, why don't we make it; and then it turns into a whole argument back and forth, but it really boils down to one question...

why can't a dev who creates Apple apps, create a WM app at the same time?

I understand, two different OS, and possibly other things, but it doesn't seem like much of a jump. I don't know anything about coding/programming, and this is clearly my opinion, how uninformed it may be.

I also understand Apple has 1 model, whereas there are quite a bit more phones that carry WM (different ROMs, different screens, different resolutions, etc.)... it's just frustrating.

Why can't an Apple app be ported or at least an iPhone emulator. If it's possible to create PSP, SNES, etc emulators then why hasn't (someone prolly has I bet) someone tried it? just a thought, just sending it out there...

Re: [UPDATED 6/9/09]This iPhone App = This WinMo App

it's possible to get the iPhone OS to run, through a virtual machine.... but doing so would make it pretty slow and worthless...
