I used it in my review of the SDG-812 GPS unit.

Very cool software, especially with new Google Maps support.

The "tracky" part is awesome...basically you give people your screen name and a special password, and they can live track you on Google maps.

It's a fun app and great for hiking, etc.

I'm kind of weary about paying $59 for "Google" Navigator since its not owned or backed by Google.... Who knows if Google will yank it for Copyright/Trademark infringement or unlawful use of their services? IDK.... just not willing to pay for it.

Been using iGuidance for about a year, excellent software. Another great one is iGo/Miomap.

Good point. My thoughts on this are:

1- There's quite a few apps doing similar things to this, from mashups to other gps programs like Tracky Pro, so I'm not sure this is expressly against Google's general usage policy. Or if it is, they don't seem to mind when it's such a small thing.

2- Not sure where the deveopers are based, but their english syntax sounds to me (and I'm purely speculating here) like they are in china or russia, which means there's little in the way of legal recourse to stop something like this.

Hi

I am a newbie here... thought I would share this with you. I did buy the Google Navigator... the company stated it was buggie and sent me two files to remove errors, company responded right away... now I am getting No GPS data received! Contacted them several times to get NO ANSWERS this time. Filed a complaint through paypal.

Have never been able to try out this software at all....

Hi

I am looking for a gps software for my verizon vx6700 that gives me turn by turn voice prompts and can use with my unlimted internet connection on my phone. I do not want to pay a monthly cost to use some software out here, nor do I want to buy a receiver to be able to use gps...

Doesn't anyone know of such software?

your going to have to buy a receiver if you want GPS functionality, and if you dont want a subscription based navigator, you can buy TomTom. but that still requires a GPS unit.

I also tried out iGuidance iNav today, for a just a little while, i'm definitely staying with TomTom 6. iGuidance is too much work to navigate, I like that it vocalizes the street names, but other than that TomTom is hands down IMO. TomTom is built to be used with really big buttons for those using it while driving, and is very easy to get going. It has verbal commands, just no street names and thats fine because when I look at the screen the street name is in big white letters. I'm glad I saw this thread, kept me solid in my love for TomTom.

how much memory does TomTom use for the program? and for storage of maps?
I have a 1G storage card now, wondering if I should get a 2g?
and does tomtom need to be installed to device memory? or can it be installed to the storage card?
