Microsoft Offers Windows Mobile 6.1 POP & IMAP Send Mail Patch
I saw this posted on mobileburn.com. Is this something we need or would help our phones? I have both yahoo and gmail sep up through IMAP and many times a week i get an error message that it is NOT able to connect(messages cant be downloaded) or something similar to that. i have it set up to check my messages every 10 minutes.
does anyone know if this patch would help? http://www.mobileburn.com/news.jsp?Id=5688 Microsoft has released a patch for Windows Mobile 6.1 powered smartphones to deal with a potential email problem due to a new feature that was introduced in this latest version of the OS. It appears that Microsoft added a feature to 6.1 that would allow carriers to specifiy a default SMTP server to use for outbound mail if the user specified SMTP server failed to connect. The problem is that if the carrier did not specify a default server, and the user's server fails to connect, the entire email account could be corrupted. it can be downloaded at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en |

Re: Windows Mobile 6.1 POP and IMAP Send Mail Patch - English available
I think it would be good to download this... Reading what the patch fixes, even though you may not have an issue, I think installing it is better then not having the patch.. You never know, the issue might affect you down the road.. Its like those security updates Microsoft issues for XP or Vista... You might not be infected, but its better to be fixed then leave the possibility of an error. Also, if you do download it, I would keep a copy of the CAB around, since I read it might not be still installed if you do a Hard Reset.
