Ad blocking with opera mobile 9.5 ???

Hello,

I just got an HTC Touch Pro and I'm trying to figure out a way to block ads in Opera mobile. I've read on the internet that you can use a file called urlfilter.ini in the desktop version of Opera.

Does anyone know if there is a similar functionality in the mobile version?

Well I seem to have figured it out. You can copy your urlfilter.ini file into the \Windows\Opera9 folder on your mobile and it will work.

jhiciano:

I'm talking about ads in your browser like banner adds and such. Wastes time and bandwidth to load them, so blocking them helps a bit.

Just create a new file and place it where I stated above on your mobile. There are many many MANY urlfilter.ini files on the interwebs you can find and use.

I went with the one from http://my.opera.com/BleedingHeart/bl...-urlfilter-ini that has trackers etc on it.

I would suggest that you also do a soft reset after you copy the file into your opera folder. It will also prob take a few extra seconds to start opera the first time you load it after you add the file from my experience. Its normal after that.

Then maybe you're not running one of the leaked versions, because they've all had their Opera9 folder within the Windows folder, at least the dozen or so of them I've tried. Maybe you installed to storage card? Or, more likely, you may actually have one of the official beta versions. In that case, try...

/Program Files/Opera/Opera9

Hope this helps, MrG
