OctroTalk adds Video Conferencing - First of its kind

We have just released OctroTalk 2.0 - this version has real time video conferencing, along with all the old goodies like voip, file transfer, IM. It also has Avatar support.

Please check it out at http://www.octro.com/. If you would like to download it directly to your Pocket PC, you can do that from http://ota.octro.com/ppc/octrotalk.cab

Unfortunately though, front camera support is only for Samsung blackjack - since HTC hasn't opened up their API to access it.

Please send us your feedback at support@octro.com.

Stream to Web as well

We just added functionality so that you can stream to Quicktime player.

Add 3001@switch.octro.net to your buddy list in octrotalk. Then make a video call to that buddy.

Users can look at what you are streaming by going to http://video.octro.com/ and entering the username as your JID.

Where JID would be your jabber/gmail id (of the form user@domain) you are using to log into OctroTalk.

Enjoy!!. Please don't forget to send us feedback. We love receiving it -- keeps us motivated .

Re: OctroTalk adds Video Conferencing - First of its kind

I skimmed throught the manual. I have allot of contacts on msn messenger.

1. I read HTC didn't allow access to its camera API, so if I'm not mistaken only samsung phones can take advantage of video conference, did that change?

2. Do those in a video conference have to be on jabber or google... or both have to have octrotalk?

3. In regular conferences do you get audio and/or does it work with msn people?

4. and finally, if on a htc (considering camera incompatability), with the video conference will you be able to atleast have an audio conversation & what I can assume to be a black video conference screen?

Thanks

Re: OctroTalk adds Video Conferencing - First of its kind

OctroTalk works great on HTC devices. The only issue is that you can't use the front camera. You have to use the back camera.

Audio works with SIP (phone number calling), GoogleTalk and OctroTalk users.

Video works only with OctroTalk users.
