How to proceed when u have Garmin XT and wanna Change your SD card?

Should I make an exact copy from one sd card to the other, or do i have to install everything over again? Thanks

not sure about garmin but cant you backup info to pc, then sync to ppc?

Garmin's program is locked to the proprietary card it comes on (at least that's what they told me when I was thinking of buying it) & will not work if copied anywhere else. I was definitely planning to go with Garmin software as I own 4 stand-alone Garmin GPS units & another Garmin built in-dash in my truck & I love them (I have used Garmin products for years)

Since I needed to use a much larger card than 4 gigs, I purchased CoPilot Live 7 instead for the PPC however. CP also comes installed on a card, but you can copy the contents of the card to other locations & it works just fine (it is running just fine from my new 16 gig Sandisk card right now)

As it turns out, I love the CP software & I am 100% happy that I bought it although I was not at all sure that would be the case when I first bought it.

Yea, I'm sure there has to be SOME way to do it.

I searched for a week or so for a solution with no luck at the time, but I probably just didn't use the right search terms.........

There is a method of locking it to your PDA instead of your SD card... I seem to recall finding the instructions in German... Do a google search in all languages on something like:

Garmin WM5
or
Garmin PPC

LOL How is that warez ?? Im not posting any programs. Its directions on how to upgrade the memory card to a larger size. It clearly states you need the garmin mobile xt in order to do this. LOL. Im not editing anything unless a mod tells me to.
