That is true, until this .8 version that so far has been disastrous for a lot of people it was a pretty decent app.

True...but it's only through trial and error that things improve. I'm sure the good folks at Skyfire are working to correct issues with version .8 and will continue to upgrade their product.

I agree 100%. I may uninstall it for now & wait for the bugs to be worked out & then try again.

Unfortunately for me, the thing keeps deciding all on its own to stay as my default browser which I cannot have as it disrupts business as usual in my system with all these log-in errors.

One thing I suppose we've all learned from this is: it is not a good idea to have a browser dependent on a remote server you have no control over set as your default browser.

Skyfire will be a nice complement to Opera etc, but there is no way I want my whole inet connection to be inoperative every time skyfire has a server glitch.

Yea, I'm having the same problem. It worked well for a couple of days, but yesterday I couldn't get into it not one time. I think I'm just gonna revert to the previous version and wait til they work out the kinks. Everyone should go to their site and report the issues you are having in their support forum, maybe they'll get it taken care of soon.

I thought the whole point of a ramped up beta was to make sure that your servers could handle the program demands....

Anyway, does anyone know how to make it so that Skyfire is not the default web browser? I want to change it to IE or Opera Mini.

Re: Skyfire Version 0.80 Beta

This from OmahaDave over at Skyfire forums:

Update, Sept. 29, 10:30am PDT:

Thanks to everyone who let us know about their experiences with the username/password problem. This information is very helpful.

I just spoke with the Skyfire staff, and they know that many people are seeing an intermittent login problem. The development team is actively working on the problem now, as well as the "Preparing to Load" hang some users are seeing. Unfortunately, there is no ETA for resolution at this time. When I know more I'll post it here.

On the upside, Skyfire reports that, according to server statistics, many if not most users are currently using Skyfire successfully.

As others have mentioned, the problem looks to be a server-side, rather than client-side, issue. So for now, reinstalling or other client-side changes are probably not going to help.

Thanks again for your patience.

(Original post follows)

If you are having trouble with Skyfire not accepting your username and password, let us know here. The developers are aware of the problem and have asked us to gather more information.

When you post, please include the version number (0.6 or 0.8), the phone platform (Symbian or Windows Mobile), and if you have used Skyfire successfully in the past (before the upgrade).

Thanks!

Re: Skyfire Version 0.80 Beta

I'm generally a fairly patient fella. I understand this is a beta, understand this is free, and understand I should expect problems.

What I do not understand is the lack of communication from the Skyfire team. Unless you log into a forum like this or the little forum on their site, you'd not have a clue what the issue is. Is it THAT big of a problem for them to send out a single bulk email to let us know what the heck is going on outside of our own investigations? <rhetorical question that someone will no doubt answer, anyway.

I second that man, that should save all of us including Skyfire lots of wasted time of trying to get the thing to work.:protest:

I have changed mine many many times now to NOT be the default, but the damn setting never sticks. I can't even imagine why anybody would want this thing to be their default browser.. Even if it wasn't as buggy as it is, all it takes is a server glitch to totally disable it (then if it's your default, you can't click on any inet links).

Go to menu/settings & uncheck the box that says "set skyfire as default browser" The real problem is, you have to be able to log into it to make the change. Then the next time you manage to get it to log-in, the damn box will be checked again........
