Re: Google Street View Mobile
Here is a screenprint of the street view on my street:

Street View is not a function in the Window Mobile version of standalone Google Maps application. You either have to have a Blackberry or you can download the java version (use esmertec jbed java launcher for java) to be able to use street view, or get Skyfire (I oppose using Street View in Skyfire). I repeat, Street View is not a function in the Window Mobile version of the standalone Google Maps application.

Re: Google Street View Mobile
On the google site it says that the Google Maps with Street View supports Windows Mobile Phones with WM5.0 or higher... but when I downloaded it, it was the same software that I already had. There was no selection for 'street view.' But it may be something we'll get in a future update since it did say our phones are supported.

Re: Google Street View Mobile
Okay, I just installed the trial version of Google Navigator and honestly, Someone is going to have to reassure me...CUZ IT SUCKS!!! It has so many restrictions in the trial version that you aren't really allowed to do ANYTHING without purchasing the full version. How is someone supposed to test out the software to see if they wanna spend $59 BUCKS on it!!! Also, I used the 'street view' function, but after viewing the street I couldn't view anything else. I couldn't get back to the menu or close out the program. I got back to the start menu by pressing the start menu button, but everytime I reopened the Google Navigator it was still in the previous street view. I had to soft reset my phone in order to close out and re-launch the software. I know you said you purchased this software, John, so please give some insight, cuz I've just experienced the TRIAL VERSION FROM HELL.

There is a fast one click exit from that, but I forget what it is right now (I haven't used it in a while & the phone is in my truck). There is virtually NO documentation for the program, but once you figure it out it really does work pretty well. I will post back later & tell you how to do it. I probably wouldn't buy GN again as I have CoPilot Live 7 which is an AWESOME program (does turn by turn spoken directions) & that along with the standard Google Maps & MS Live Search is all I really need as far as the GPS goes. I did use the street view feature last week however. I have a 19 year old son & one of his buddies has a job working in a warehouse in a part of the city I wasn't totally familiar with. I offered to pick him up from work as his car was broke down. We went to the street view of that neighborhood & he showed me exactly where to pick him up which was kinda cool. ~John |
