Re: Native Facebook Client for Windows Mobile
I just use http://m.facebook.com, and that's sufficient for me.

Re: Native Facebook Client for Windows Mobile
Man I would love to try this out, but I always get an exception error when I try running it.
|
Re: Native Facebook Client for Windows Mobile
thanks for the update info... my last experience with this app was pretty slow and buggy but i like where it's headed.

Re: Native Facebook Client for Windows Mobile
Me too I installed it and everything but everytime I tried to run it I got an error message too, I'll give it another shot though.

You may be referring to uploading photos using MMS, or getting messages through SMS. But these are not through the mobile portal. They are a pain to use, and messages are often cut-off in the middle because they don't fit in SMS. Not to mention that even this limited functionality is not available to a large number of users (T-Mobile and Alltel in the US, for example). |

My main complaint is that I cannot scroll the friends' list with my finger. Had to use the scroll bar. Any plan to introduce support for finger gestures? |
Re: Native Facebook Client for Windows Mobile

Re: Native Facebook Client for Windows Mobile
My problem with it is that it seems to be doing a lot of updating in the background or something on boot, because whenever it starts, I have to wait 30 sec to a 1 min before I can do anything. Sometimes it even totally locks up the device during this.
After that, however, it is totally useable and great specifically for uploading photos from the phone's camera and directory. However, for standard things like friend updates and changing my status, I do find that a quick jaunt over to m.facebook.com is faster and more efficient. However, as was already pointed out here, there are thinks snap2face offers that the mobile portal does NOT, which makes it irreplaceable. To tell the truth, I think I would be much happier with just an app that handles the photo side of things. Perhaps there should be an option to turn off the rest of it if the user doesn't want it to update all the feeds and everything each time? |
Re: Native Facebook Client for Windows Mobile
Also, I would like to suggest more integration into the OS as far as things like finger scrolling (as mentioned earlier) if someone has ftouchflo, etc., not to mention that the screen does not update properly when switching to/from landscape.
Its a good app, and with some UI tweaks, it could be a GREAT app. |

Thanks for your feedback. In our next version, due to be released in a few days, we will have support for finger gestures. On launch, Snap2Face will try to check 1) current status, 2) new notifications, and 3) friends' updated status. And this may take sometime on a slow connection. We will make this an option in the next version, so you can turn off these updates when you launch the program. |

I also get friend requests and check my wall through the m.facebook.com application. |
Re: Native Facebook Client for Windows Mobile
I tried this app out today, i like it alot! I agree that the next version is going to be really nice having gestures. The photo album portion of this program is a really nice interface imo.

Re: Native Facebook Client for Windows Mobile
We have added support for finger gestures. In any list view, you can now move your finger east to select any item, west to go back to the previous screen, north to scroll down, and south to scroll up.
Please download and install the update by pointing your phone's browser at http://m.magnifoca.com, and let us know your feedback. Best regards, Magnifoca, Inc |

I've tried multiple times on my HTC Titan, even emailed them about it since it works with the iPhone's mail client. The response was "only iphone email for mobile upload is supported at this time". I've been using sMMS to send since MMS is accepted by facebook, but its a hassle to compose multiple messages for each pic in a batch upload. This is where snap2face truly shines, and the biggest reason I use it. Now, if I could just get to that function quicker by disabling automatic status updates... Hey magnifoca, how about you have 2 "modes" of operation? Standard mode, like you have it now, and quick photo mode, which would just be for image uploading. You could invoke it via command line, like snap2face.exe -quickphoto, and have 2 shortcuts in the programs menu (one for quick, one for full). If it were open source, that's totally what I would do to it... |
Re: Native Facebook Client for Windows Mobile
I can't login It says incorrect password/username.. I did all the allowing too
NeverMind.. Got it |

I decided to manually go to m.magnifoca.com and reinstall, however I don't see any difference, and finger gestures are definitely NOT working. Did the update not get pushed to your webserver? Also, unless its implented like A_C does his scrolling apps, its probably a better idea to just allow a device's native finger scrolling system to take over instead of creating your own. Otherwise, someone with ftouchflo, for example, would have problems using it because ftouchflo is trying to adjust the scroll bars, and snap2face is trying to use its own touch interface. A similar problem is found with apps like Google Maps, etc, which require finger scrolling, and the solution is to add the program to the "exclude" list in the finger scrolling app config. The native Touch and Diamond Bio-Touch would probably have the same problem. Why can't you just use a standard WM window system and scroll bars instead of re-inventing the wheel? An app more native to the OS would probably run smoother as well, not to mention be more cross-device compatible... |

Re: Native Facebook Client for Windows Mobile
Just a heads-up: My Facebook account was recently disabled because I was using this program. Apparently it shows up on Facebook's log scanner as an automated scraping program. Luckily they re-enabled my account after about a week.

Re: Native Facebook Client for Windows Mobile
I was able to get it to log in once and after that for each step I got the error communicationg problem.
Now I can't even get it to log on. |
Re: Native Facebook Client for Windows Mobile
yea, getting error while communicating with facebook. oh well. hate that facebook puts out an iphone app, a blackberry app, but not a windows mobile app.

Re: Native Facebook Client for Windows Mobile
Why do you have to give the program permission to update your status or upload pictures without your approval or without notifying you??? Seems to conflict with the statement that it will not do anything without your permission...

Re: Native Facebook Client for Windows Mobile
Any plans for integrating facebook chat into this app?

This app is phenomenal.

Re: Native Facebook Client for Windows Mobile
:( I can't get this program to work and I really wanted to try it out. I have installed it and the certificate on my phone. I have given all the permissions that it needed. I have entered my login information correctly... but it still gives me the login information is incorrect or I haven't given the program permissions error?????

Re: Native Facebook Client for Windows Mobile
*so* slow compared to the ipod/iphone or even blackberry alternatives:(

Same exact problem as you NinjaMom. :(

Re: Native Facebook Client for Windows Mobile
Ditto... is it because I have a very long password (20 characters, upper/lowercase/numbers/non-alpha-numeric)?? I don't get it... facebook shows:
applications, show, granted additional permissions, Status Updates, Skybook, edit settings, everything checked. What gives? This doesn't seem to be the same kind of error that others of HTC seem to have with locked apps. I mean, if the app is installed, doesn't that mean you can install apps? I've also accepted key (after reinstalling). It shows v1.2. |

Re: Native Facebook Client for Windows Mobile
I am having a different issue with Skybook. I can get it to run with no problems, however, when i go to refresh my friends' profiles, 9 times out of 10 it states that a problem has occured downloading my friends pictures and then crashes.
Anyone else experience this? |
