Re: Home Automation??
I would check into the Home Automation hardware. Many systems have gone to TCP/IP based networking. This way you can access features from a "Webpage" much like you would type 192.168.1.1 for your router for example. You can keep it local (Wireless network) or set it up as a Web server for while your away. A Good system will allow for scheduling (Turn off Web server while your home) to limit hackers access as much as possible.
INSTEON is fast becoming dominant over X10 automation devices. It uses a combination of RF and your homes electrical wires to transmit data which proves to be more reliable when elec. lines are "dirty" or RF doesn't reach. INSTEON Web Device here... http://www.smarthome.com/2412n.html
