Sprite Backup.. Is it possible to get contacts list out of backup file?

Guys,

A friend of mine has a phone that was recently upgraded to win media 6.1. She has a backup from when her phone still had windows media 6.0 and that is the only backup of her contacts she has.

I know once you upgrade to 6.1 you cannot restore from a 6.0 backup, but is it possible to take the contacts list out of the sprite backup? Thanks.

I would appreciate any help anyone can give.
