app you can't live without?

I'm sure we all have favorite apps we can't live without... post your favorite here; if it's FREEWARE, a link to where you got it :)

I'll start... my favorite utility is Pocket Explorer, and here's the link for this can't-live-without-it freeware:

http://www.citadeldevelopment.com/pr...ocketexplorer/

it appears the above has become a DEAD LINK, so here's the app:

Pocket CM, combo contact manager and threaded SMS. www.pocketcm.com

Re: app you can't live without?

vito technologies application called SMS-Chat. its a threaded text messaging program that is SOOOOOO much better than the really slow stock WM6.1 threaded text. www.vitotechnology.com

Its a trial period program but it only costs $7 i believe. try it and you'll quickly be really frustrated every time you accidentally open the WM text app.

I'm torn between ultimate launch and Today agenda. I need today agenda to be able to manage my schedule just by looking at the today screen.

Re: app you can't live without?

I have several that I feel I couldn't do without, but I guess the one that I use the most and really increases my enjoyment of the phone is QuickMenu.

It replaces the stock start menu. It is multi-tiered, and lets you quickly and easily launch any application right from the start menu, as well as quick access to internet favorites.

It is also a task manger, allowing you to easily jump between or close running programs, again, right from the start menu.

It also has an easy soft reset feature.

Really, this little app does so much, and yet, it does not even require an install... it is distributed as a stand alone .exe and two .dll's.

It is freeware but I can't remember where I got it as it was a long time ago. I've given the program to friends though and everyone I've given it to has loved it.

Re: app you can't live without?

Turns out it's Tom Tom. Worth every penny.

Freeware - probably mortscript, as I do seem to write a lot of little scripts for this bugger - but then I'm a coder.

I seem to be looking at s2u2 a lot ;) Makes the phone useful for a quick peek at the time & next calendar item. Honestly I probably turn it on 5-10 times a day and don't even unlock it...

+10 for Quick Menu!! It let you close every program on x or okay. Saves tons of battery power! AND it takes VERY little memory. I think you can get it by searching for "quick menu" on xda.

WkTASK, HTC Home Customizer, SPB Diary, Phone ScreenLock, Resco File Explorer.

Re: app you can't live without?

how do you guys like quickmenu? i think its a pile of crap! i hate how it eliminates htc task manager! is there any way to run both programs at the same time?

I can't live without ultimate launcher, MyCast Weather, and HTC Home Customizer

BenC 08-14-2008 03:35 PM

Re: app you can't live without?

QuickMenu crap? No, it works well, accomplishing the same as many other menu applications without the clutter. The task manager is simple to use, always available and accessible without extra steps. Its foot print is small compared to most of the others. I quit using UL on day number 5.

TheIgster 08-14-2008 03:40 PM

Re: app you can't live without?

I've never tried QuickMenu, but I like WkTASK for sure. It's easy to use, has numerous features and allows me to close programs very easily. I especially like the quick access Close All feature as well as the Soft Reset feature. Never had any issues with it and it also includes the Launcher program for quickly launching applications without having to have shortcuts on the Today screen.
