I'm not exactly sure how this works, I created an account and installed qik on my phone, but I really don't understand what to do. I click stream and I don't see anything on my profile page until i click refresh, and even after that, the video is not smooth at all, and keeps pausing and stopping.

Using Qik on a phone with no keyboard

I have a Touch Diamond, but, the question applies to any WinMo phone without a real keyboard - so, I'm asking it here.

I'm trying out qik.com to stream videos from my Diamond. I'm supposed to press 55 while capturing the video to tell qik to also post on Twitter. Since there's no physical keyboard I haven't been able to figure out how to do this.

I tried pressing the phone button (bottom left button) to bring up the virtual keypad while capturing, but, it didn't do anything for a while, then started dialing the last number called and eventually froze the phone.

Are there any other qik users here who've gotten this to work?

I was thinkin i could bring up my SIP keyboard, but I just checked and can't. Perhaps a suggestion should be made to qik about this.

I found an earlier request for this on the Qik support forum (which may be getsatisfaction.com) and I added my request for a fix there.

just make sure you set your live stream settings so it's not choppy

there are other sites as well like
comvu as said
kyte.com
shozu.com
flixwagon
movino.com
http://www.livecastr.com/
http://bambuser.com/
http://www.next2friends.com/
but certain phones are compatible check them out though

great post

I've seen shozu mentioned on different boards in lots of threads related to video and I'd like to try it. Does anybody know if Shozu stores videos locally on the handheld in addition to streaming? I'd prefer that it does not or that, at the very least, it provides the option of not storing locally. I'm trying to not fill up the non-removable memory in my Diamond:)

Shozu is more of a "shoot once, automatically upload many" thing. You shoot a pic and/or a video and however you've configured shozu, it just does its mojo.

First it optionally geotags, then uploads to the shozu site. Then it sends the media (based on your settings and the media type) to whatever you've told it to send things to.

So yeah, you end up with one copy on your phone, and as many copies as you care to have elsewhere.

It's great for photos, you don't need to think about it, they just go poof. Not so much for live video streaming.

What version of Shozu do I need to download for the Diamond. It's listed on the support page - but, not on the download page. So, I'm assuming I'll need to select a different phone to download the app for. I just don't know which would be the best choice.

Yeeeaaaah, qik is awesome! Hows it supposed to be pronounced? 'Kick?' 'Quick?' 'Keeek?'

This software is fantastic... works much better than livecast... in fact livecast does not even compare when it comes to video quality. I am on Bell Canada and use a HTC Touch. I recommend this software big time.

Anybody try http://www.octro.com yet? The one on the right...

There is a new version out for windows mobile, one of the things it adds is the ability to save locally and GPS now works.

This Joint is Hot I think it might beat youtube in the long run if it gets the proper support.

Works great on my Sprint Treo 800w.
Linked the Qik account to my Facebook so the live feed shows on my Facebook profile.
Enabled the youtube account feature in Qik so it automatically posts to my Youtube.com account.
Enabled the Twitter account feature and Qik posts a "tweet" with a link to the live stream.

Nice.

I unfortunatly dont have time to read the whole thread, but I am certian that this software works with the HTC Vogue (Sprint Touch). Simply say you have the touch dual, and the cab works great.

I am amazed by this software and the fact that it is currently a free service. Let's hope it stays that way.

It works with the Touch, I think that was one of the first Windows Mobile devices it supported.

I would like that too. I wonder if any of the hacks that let wifi keep working with the screen off would work for this?
