  • Only touchscreen devices are supported for now. Support for non-touchscreen devices is planned for a future beta
  • ActiveX is disabled: Flash plugins and embedded video streaming will not work
  • Custom software keyboards will be buggy or not work
  • Only English is supported for now. Some problems with other languages (and input methods) can be expected
  • Installation on memory cards may cause problems
  • Text wraps in overview mode
  • We have got reports from some users that this build will disable the phone's sounds/notifications
Interesting - that sounds like the description of alpha software, not beta....

I agree. I wouldn't expect to see such major bugs in a beta.

Re: Opera Mobile Offical Beta 9.5.1 Build 1718 (Updated)

Yea I went back to the 1522 build. A few things...the 1718 build only utlitilized the stock keyboard as the initial keyboard brought up for typing stuff in. (Had to keep switching to Resco Keyboard in order to use it). It didnt load webpages fully...It was loading pages in a mobile view type format even though I didn't have it checked. Yea I was pretty disappointed with the official beta release, especially since it seemed worse than the previous builds.

No, not yet, I'll keep updating OP when new builds come out though, I think there is a work around for the notifications bug:
==

((before proceeding, make sure your notification settings are the way you want them as this will save them however they are at the moment)

Open Fdcsoft Task Manager (it gets installed in a folder under programs called "system")
1. click on the down arrow in the top/right of the screen and choose "regedit"
2. expand the registry to the following
3. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel
4. TAP and HOLD on "Notifications" and click "Export"
5. navigate to \windows\start menu (so Start Menu is highlighted)(leave the default name of "notifications.reg")
6. click the bottom left icon and choose "associate ... " this will allow double clicking .reg files and having them added to the registry

Now after you open and close Opera Mobile 9.5b1, just go to the start menu and click "notifications" and you're settings will be restored.

You ARE aware that this is a beta, right? Whereas Opera Mini has been through full testing.

That's why it's out as a beta. So that people like you can report problems like these to Opera in order to get them fixed.

Re: Opera Mobile Offical Beta 9.5.1 Build 1718 (Updated)

This may be a dumb question, but how the heck do you change the homepage in Opera??

I can't seem to find that option anywhere??
