Re: SPB Backup 2.0 released...

Since I purchased Sprite Backup, I guess I am posting this in defense of it over SPB Backup, but Sprint has had the ROM upgrade feature (although I have not personally used it) for a while. Snippet from their site:

Key Features

• ROM Independent Restore - Recover your device irrespective of what version of ROM is installed

I used sprite backup, and its ROM upgrade feature, several times. Half the time, it restored, but most of my apps were broken and laggy. The last time I used it, it wouldn't restore at all. It wouldn't even restore just my PIM data. I had to flash back to the old rom, and then it worked.

I've been using SPB Backup 2.0 now, and have used the ROM upgrade feature 5-6 times now. No such problems have occured.

Re: SPB Backup 2.0 released...

something weird is happening with my spb backup 1.6.3 lately... it's now locking up my phone each time it tries to do a scheduled backup... the only way i can get it to run without locking up is to put my phone in safe mode which is pretty irritating...

I had the problem on my Touch, and did some research on the SPB site. There is a 1.6.4 build that will work better, but try unchecking the stop processes box. That fix seems to work on both builds with the newer WM6 builds, and solved my problems (locked up my touch and completely effed up my SD card.)
See the posts here: http://www.spbclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=15985

EDIT: Found the post with 1.6.4 (old serial WILL work)

many thanks g-doc, unchecking the stop processes worked! i'll still pick up 1.6.4 since it'll work with my serial... wish 2.0 did as well but you win some you lose some.

You do have to admit it though...by the time they issue an upgrade they make you pay for, they do add a lot more, and (if you use it) make it worth the investment, like a new app!! Kinda like the MobileShell difference, 2.1 is a totally different animal than the original!!!

The only problem being that SPB apps are usually on the pricey side to begin with!!!!

Having the same problem with my Touch. Unchecking the Stop Processes box stopped my Touch from locking up.

Is this a Touch or a WM6 problem? Will SPB be fixing this problem so that the running processes can be stopped before backups?
