late,

1.6.3 did have problems with certain files, it seemed that every time I did a backup a file or two would almost certainly fail, and the few times I did try a restore from them it was flukey at best, sometimes taking a second attempt, or going back a file or two (even if the backup didn't throw out any alerts, they didn't work). In this new version though even the problem files restored like a dream. The PC unpack tool is a lot better as well, and very easy to navigate, and read SMS and data on your PC!!

Another fantastic feature is that if you create a folder for backup files to be stored on the PPC, the backup sync will automatically store any files in that folder on your PC (a LOT faster than ActiveSync) behind the scenes, so you can sync with your PC via ActiveSync, and your backup files are synced as well before you even realize it!!

To anyone whose used this. I had major problems with the last product wherein if I backed up a device with a PIN, then restored it, it would not restore the correct PIN, making the device unusable. Anyone know if this has been fixed?

I had this happened to me too. it'd be interesting to know if that is indeed fixed. does anyone know if you upgrade from a previous verison whether or not you have to pay for the software again? or is it free upgrade?

If you purchased the last version within the last 30 days then I think you can upgrade for free. If you already own SPB Backup then I think upgrading is like $10.

i just read over at www.spbsoftwarehouse.com that if you purchased and earlier version less than 90 days before the 2.0 upgrade was released, you can get a free upgrade. But you should have received an email from them notifying you of that, and if you didn't, to contact them. dschoenike
