good stuff. took a little longer to d/l and install, but i think its because it's 3 keyboards all in one. love the qwerty keyboard, not a fan of the other two. works A LOT better than PCMk. nice find.

I know most of us have seen the videos of the Diamond, but perhaps you could include a few screenshots for those who haven't and stumble across this post in the future. :)

Nice find. Very finger friendly, easy to use and way better than the stock keyboard.

Thanks

I'm not sure why people are so lazy nowadays. All you have to do is Google the dam thing.

Here's something I noticed, when using the OEM SMS composer, when I type the name of a contact using the hardware keyboard, it doesn't show the pop-up box with the name/number. Is this happening to anyone else?....=/

if it's too large you need to host it somewhere like imageshack or something and then link to it

Re: touch diamond qwerty keyboard

UPDATE-So, it kinda works. I have to type in the first character of the first/last name, press "space", then a black bar appears at the bottom of the screen, and I can select it from there. It doesn't seem to show email addresses though. =/ Hmmmm....

Mine showed a pop up where it does the T9 suggestions just above the keyboard. It only showed one name but when you press down on the dpad the next one shows

Re: touch diamond qwerty keyboard

i like the the fact that you can change it from t9 to abc with a push of a button but its not as responsive as touchpal so for texting touchpal is for me but for putting in passwords and stuff this keyboard is for thankfully it plays well with others and doesnt shut them down.

Thanks, I know that's how it works. I guess I'm just too accustomed to how the stock name finder worked.

Re: touch diamond qwerty keyboard

"Touch QWERTY" with T9 on while in landscape mode doens't properly work. I thought it would be cool to have the phone closed while the screen is rotated in landscape and use it as a software KB.

It's not about being lazy. It's about documenting what you post so that people don't have to go to a half-dozen places to find information.

Anyway, thanks for the additional links.

Re: touch diamond qwerty keyboard

I just installed it and ran a couple of tests with this keyboard and Touchpal. So far, I'm reeeealy liking this keyboard. in landscape mode the qwerty arragement is a tad wierd but I got used to it already. I love the fact that the keys are bigger than on touchpal, (I have sausage fingers so every little bit counts, damn genetics). I usually don't use the t9 fuctionality so I have nothing to report on that. I like touchpal, but the keys are so small, especially if I go into landscape mode, it seems like they get smaller than when in portrait mode. Let me know if you guys want me to compare a specific feature between the 2.

Re: touch diamond qwerty keyboard

Once I figured out it was on Italian language by default, everything was smooth sailing... lol

Journeyjeans 05-10-2008 06:15 PM

Re: touch diamond qwerty keyboard

Hmm. Looks very good, but it is partly buggy. Mine wasn't set to Italian or anything, but for example1.: The Touch Diamond Keyboard changes color when I go into landscape, from grey to black. It also won't let me use the actual letters, only the numbers.

The Touch Diamond Qwerty however, works flawlessly, and I love how I just have to hold on a letter to get the secondary symbol. VERY nice!

Didn't try the Touch Diamond Keypad, since I don't like that form of text entry anyway.

So....the Touch Diamond Qwerty is a winner for one handed use!!!!!!!!!!!!

uhhh... you can use the touch diamond qwerty one handed??? I can use the keypad but not the qwerty or the keyboard. That takes some skill! ;)

Great post !!!

Re: touch diamond qwerty keyboard

I've noticed one somewhat annoying bug with this thing...

On the old version, if you added your own word, that was only the default word until you chose another from the list you're presented with...... not so with this new version. I constantly have to keep selecting the word I want to use, it doesn't automatically become the default for that key combination anymore.

Anyone else noticed this? Only thing I don't like!

It is a skill honed by long time use of my Palm Treo 650 ;) The keys are about the same size, and if you add maybe a millimeter or two of space between them, you have the Treo Keyboard. The Mogul and Treo are the same size, practically speaking, with the Treo only being about a millimeter taller than the Mogul, and perhaps 5 millimeters thicker from the side. Come to think of it, the Treo fits perfectly into the OEM case that came with the Mogul :)

Any reason why this wouldn't work on a Touch?

Re: touch diamond qwerty keyboard

Whenever im typing there is a black space showing the letters that im pressing, is there anyway for me to take this off? Also, in the keypad state, is there a way to do a "precise input" kinda like touchpal has? Thanks

It definitely takes a while, but works great once it's done.

This is the keyboard I been looking for. I have been using touch pal for a while now. I just didnt like the keypad as much. It still was too small. I am used to using a flip phone and going one handed no looking. This keyboard is just the right size for me to do that. took a bit to fiddle with the settings to get the t9 to be where I wanted it to.
