If you are a V2 user, you will find a lot of new features in V3. There are, however, two types of improvements: new platform (more invisible) and new features (more visible).

The New Platform

Each time we released a new version, we made some aggressive optimization in the platform and architecture. This time there's also some big improvements.

* The keyboard is now designed to support a variety of layouts. In addition to the two-key layout, we added the single-key layout and 9-key layout.
* The "Flow" engine can detect your gesture and move up the keyboard.
* SDK tools for building language packs are now available. We will open it to limitted partners who could help us develop more language packs.
* Images are seperated from the DLL and thus make the DLL file much smaller. This would help resolve the loading issue on some resource limitted models.

The New Features

* "Flow" your keyboard - You can switch layouts or turn pages by sliding left or right on the keyboard.
* Skins are supported - You can download different skins or design your own skins.
* Press & hold - For those who don't like sliding, now you can hold a key to expand all the possible characters.
* Change priority of a word in dictionary, or delete a custom word.
* Key press sound effect.
* Prediction based on context - The prediction engine can now guess the word based on what you have typed. For example, if you typed "let" and then type for "us", the word "us" will appear prior to "is".
* Next word prediction - If you typed "look", the word "forward to" will be shown in the candidate list.

Of course, this release fixed a bunch of bugs including the uninstall issue in the previous version.

im testing it out its pretty coo but you need to be able to change the colors but everything else is pretty awesome. it also makes noisewhen you push a button anybody know how to stop that

the color is HORRIBLE. The guys over at the cootek forums are trying to get the admin to release the default skin for this. If they dont release it, ill be going back to V2

try it and youll see what i mean. and ALOT of people care about color, i dont want nothin that makes my UI look shiiddy

i'll try it right now, and i'll report back to see if the color messes up the UI. plus if you don't like the color, you can always make your own skin. that's what it says. it ain't no biggie.

when you click on the settings tab, slide that window a couple times and you will see the option checked to enable sound. just have to uncheck that box and you're good to go.

I d/led it last night and its a great program. I'm having some problems though. So before I installed the new v3, I saved my user dictionary to my storage card. After installing V3 soft reset etc, when I went to replace the user dictionary it was changed to "user_dic_txt" or somthing very similiar. I went ahead and copy pasted all my previous words from older dictionary and posted them into the new txt. When I type none of my user words come up. When I look at the "user_dic_txt" there are numbers next to my words I pasted onto the text. For example, if I copied over the word "krazichinaman" it would show "krazichinaman 4". Yet, when I actually use the keyboard to type it, it doesn't recognize it. Anyone have any ideas whats going on with it?

Also when you go into settings> personel> input> Touchpal Options> can you click on "Word Completion" or "Options" ? I d/l the free version but I figured I would be able to access these tabs until my 15 day trial runs out and it reverts back to the free version. Maybe this is the reason why my user defined words aren't popping up?

I LOVE this keyboard! I'm having the same installation problem though that I had with Version 2. I follow all the instructions, do all the reboots, and when I run the cab, it installs all the way up to "reboot now?" And when I let it reboot, only the resources and surfaces files show up in the prog folder.

With V2, Cootek sent me some customized files to copy to the prog folder and everything worked perfectly. I've written already for V3 support. And, these guys are great, I expect it by tomorrow morning. After I get it going, I'll check back with an opinion or two.

This app is otherwise simple and elegant. Like MemMaid, it's worth every penny of the price.

why cant i get v3 to work on the xv6900?!? i had v2 working fine!! i went to settings-input-touchpal but when i try to load it, it says "input method could not be loaded" any suggestions?!

Is it me or does V3 use more memory then V2 standard version? I seem to be booting up with 1.2 less MB now :/

Does anyone got a V2 standard cab kicking around? I was Foolish and deleted it when I found out v3 was out.

I tell ya what Fellow PPC GEEKS;
The v.3 for TouchPal may have new features but it looks awful w/pixalated
fonts...The Preview that is on You Tube however looks awesome, that is what I was hoping to get, after playing with it over night...I decided to go back to v.2 as it looks so much better; I figure I'll wait til they make it look right before I re-install v.3...

That is just a dark version of the new skin...Not Classic as in the original....

yep, it sucks too, im about to uninstall this and go back to v2. it looks way better and worked fine, and it this point im kinda like "if it aint broke dont fix it". maybe when they get it together ill go back to v3

I am using the Pro version and I love the changes, once I get used to it I am sure that I will be able to type as well as I do on my computer keyboard (that won't take much). and the default skin from version two is available on the site.

They have another skin on the site. It's called "classic". It's monocromatic like the Touch Home screen.

I do like the improvements in this version.

i dont want that crap of a skin they call default. i dont understand why they cant put together a skin that looks EXACTLY like v2. v3 is structured off of v2, so this boggles me

I been using it for a couple days now and it's pretty good. I like the new gestures they introduced but it does use up more memory. I'm currently working on an HTC Touch keyboard theme for it. Here is what it looks like so far (just the normal size is complete).

I don't know what the big deal is about the color. To me the color is fine... it's not great, but it's not horrible either. It's also faster than v2 in my opinion so I'm sticking with it.

because v2 looked 17 times better, and this is supposed to be considered an upgrade in all aspects. it works better yes but looks worst, makes no sense
