Re: Texting question...

Sending is easy (from desktop email to phone text message). I think there was a discussion somewhere on here about it - for example, to send to someone on Sprint, send the email to phonenumber@messaging.sprintpcs.com (remember the 160 character limit on text messages).

Receiving text messages on a desktop unfortunately isn't as easy... I don't think it's possible with free services.

For 2-way conversations with a desktop, it's probably easiest to use a chat program - i.e. Palringo has windows and mobile versions of their chat client. Thus send an email/text message to the mobile phone, tell them to meet you on Palringo, and you'll be chatting in a few minutes.

Hope that helps, --TonyK.

Re: Texting question...

Dashwire will let you send and receive text messages from the web. Because we have a small client on the phone, when you receive an SMS it uploads to the web in about 2-3 seconds, where you can view, reply, or forward from your PC. When sending a message, we also send thru the client, meaning that when others receive the message, it actually looks as though it came from you instead of a 501 or 338 gateway code. Since your contacts are online, when sending the SMS, we auto-pull from your contacts list.

You have to keep the client running in background, but by doing so you also auto-upload contacts, photos, videos, call logs, phone settings, etc.

Not sure I'm translating Nee Nee's request, but we do allow users to share photos via text messaging (in addition to e-mail and social networking sites).
