Google Maps Distance Calculator?

Does anyone know of a way to add things into Google Maps like the Mapplets Distance Measurement Tool:

(click distance measurement tool and click your two points)
Or another program that will allow you to get "as the crow flies" point to point distance on the PPC. Neither Google nor Microsoft LiveSearch allows as the crow flies, they want to snap to the road closest to the points.

I'm looking for something with a satellite view that I can click two points and get a rough estimate for the distance between them. I'm thinking for using it for golfing and other hobbies. I would like to pull up the course and get a better estimate of how far away the hole is, or at the driving range, from my tee box how far away those markers really are. I've found all kinds of coding for Google Maps API functions, (http://econym.googlepages.com/epoly.htm) but nothing that will pull up on the PPC. I couln't find anything in the searches here or on XDA, However the TrackMe (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=340667) program looked promising if only it would pull up on the PPC Google Maps.
