Skyfire Support

Let me preface by saying to the mods I apologize if this has already been discussed in another post and feel free to move/close this thread.

I think we have enough people with that download that we can start a support area. Besides most of the threads a talking about sign up times and email downloads.

So with that said yesterday was a great day for me! Gps, Rev A and an sms from skyfire with their beta download:headbang: .
The only problem is my e-mail and password when I try running the program. I can login on the web site with no problem, I've even changed my password twice. Still I can't login to use the browser. Any help/thoughts would be appreciated.

And feel free to post any advice, tips or tricks here as well.

Re: Skyfire Support

As long as this doesn't turn into the "Son of Skyfire" thread where, like you said Cutta-Boi, everyone was talking about emails, sms, etc., then I think we can keep this thread open.

However, off-topic posts (e.g, discussing emails, etc.) will be deleted.

Thanks for your understanding and drink plenty of water.

late,
Coz

EDIT: If you wanna talk about your sms, email, etc. please use this thread:

it wasn't working for me before, but now it is, maybe their server was down, as it had to "reauthenticate"

msswitch 06-29-2008 11:35 PM

Re: Skyfire Down?

Skyfire was down, perhaps due to the new release? If you log into your Skyfire account you can download the latest version or have the link sent via SMS. I was able to use Skyfire after updating to the new version: 0.610.4721

What the H, E, double hockey sticks; is going on with Skyfire recently! The past two weekends of server outages now even during the week the program is only intermediately functioning. We all know they're functioning in beta mode, but shouldn't things be getting better and not slowly getting worst instead?

I'm seeing more disconnects, slower page loads, hours of inaccessibility... heck, it's enough to drive me back to Opera Mini! Skyfire is prone to lose it's covenant spot on my mobiles start menu if these shenanigans continue... and where's the new release?

Skyfire get your arse in the kitchen and bake me my Pie.

noone here can get you an invite. and you cant have skyfire unless you live in USA. they wont allow you to have it until they decide to broaden the base of skyfire to those outside of the USA, sorry.

I don't think that's entirely true. My friend from back home (Barbados) got his damn invite long before i did.

Hmm... That was a bad choice of words, I think... I surely don't want them to make "another pie".. PIE is bad enough, without the help of them.. Now, lighting a "fire" under their butts is something I am for.
..
Come on Skyfire! If we are truly at .9 (I think,..), where is all of the reliability and stability? What about the features, and multi-tab? When testing the new 9.5 of Opera, I noticed a huge feature.. When you have it open, and you click a link, it opens a new tab... This is a huge deal, let alone even the ability to open more than one tab ](*,)

we are? i'm still on version 0.61.0.4721. i thought that was the newest, which i just got a few days ago. i'll have to check again, but i'm pretty sure we're nowhere near 0.9.

Well, you have to be in the Pre-historic Alpha group to get your hands on the .9 build.. All Beta 1 and Beta 2 users only have access to the .61, even though we have had .9 amoung the Alpha users, for several months now.

Hehe.. I was getting it confused with JiveTalk I guess.. You are right, we are only at .61.. However, I still am concerned at the lack of updates lately.. I didn't see that much difference, from .61 to the previous version. I hope we see a new build soon, and full of features.. Time will only tell..

This has been discussed many times already, but short answer is No, unless you are currently in on the beta there is no way of gettting in.... Even if you have a .cab file it still won't work.

Re: Skyfire Support

Once again Skyfire is acting up, you know this has been the norm for the last month now. I'm finding myself using Opera Mini more and more and I must admit, it handles overall web surfing much better. (Imagine scrolling across a page and not waiting five to ten seconds for the application to catch up.) If the next release of Skyfire doesn't improve I'm uninstalling.

Choppy internet video and flash support isn't worth the level of aggression and hassle Skyfire gives end users to simply read a site.

I completely agree with the aggrivation, but I will still not un-install, because I really think it has potential.. They need to get their butts in gear though, because Opera 9.51 will soon have the same exact features.. I really thought they were going to beat everyone else to the punch, but due to the long lag in updates, I am starting to wonder what they are doing, exactly..!! They must have taken the summer off or something.. Then again, so has Netfront.. They haven't released 3.4 or the greatly improved 3.5, and they are due for another release soon.. I just am hoping it is not just another beta, but an actual final version, or the last beta version, with some kind of plugins.. So, set-aside from Opera, they are just doing what everyone else seems to be doing..
When can we get a decent full-experience browser, that doesn't hog memory like crap, and have faster speeds than these current dial-up browsers??

So, I got in under the cnet100 round and downloaded skyfire, but I flashed a new rom. Can I get it back? Can anyone tell me how? I downloaded it from my phone, so I don't have the cab on my PC.

Thanks.
