Holy s***, is there really no way to copy text in this browser?? I got the drag controls on, am able to select text, but there's no way that I can find to copy it. Is that the most insane s*** you've ever heard of?? Why would they offer the ability to switch from "drag" mode to "select text" mode if you can't do anything with the text you select? I thought I might be able to use the regular keyboard and do a "ctrl-c" to get it copied, but there's no way to get the keyboard to come up. God, I swear I find some new retarded problem with this browser every time I use it.

I'm feeling a little better now that I checked out the skyfire message boards and saw that some of the things I hate about the browser are hopefully going to be fixed in the future.

Now I'm just perturbed about my post getting edited for  profanity. Like reading "s***" affects a person differently than reading the uncensored version. What are we, 6 year olds at daycare?

Yeah, appaerntly we are all kids. granted there are kids on here, but honestly when you have sites like (site deleted by Coz) broadcasting free internet porn to the masses with no age verification except a mouse click. why should it matter if i am voicing my opinion and it just so happens to contain a 'fock' or 'shet'? actually i have even received "infractions" for swearing. which i think is dumb as hell. Especially since there is not list of unapproved words. And an Admin told me that 'damn' is ok, but not the four letter expletive that begins with s.

Does anyone else find that this program uses a ton of battery? 20 min of web browsing seems to use about 30% of my battery. I love the program but must have a charger handy to use it for very long.

It's a known issue. They're supposed to be fixing it in the next release, according to the forums.

I know you guys like to talk about all the "dirty words" you know...but let's do try to stay on topic here.

They don't make good topics of discussion. They do make good adjectives, however. Finding certain combinations of letters offensive, for whatever strange reason, limits a conversation, IMO.

they know about the battery drain, but I wouldn't so much call it an "issue". it's caused by skyfire's need for a persistent data connection.

It's actually persistent data, in conjunction with the flash player. Apple had the option to include it with the iphone, but opted not to due to battery consumption.

not to argue semantics, but the flash is rendered server side.

Apparently Skyfire's finally gone to an open beta. Servers must be over loaded as I haven't been able to download the latest version from the site (v0.80)

Well, this browser is really irritating me.

I just installed the latest version on my new phone setup. It DL'ed & installed just fine.

Now, when I try to start it up it tells me I entered an "invalid e-mail & password" (I have entered it about 20 times) The same email address & password log me in just fine at skyfire.com......

I upgraded to the new beta last night, played around with it a little bit and closed it out (wasn't running in task manager.)

Today, my battery went under 10% by 11:00am (took it off the charger at 06:00am). Normally I can go all day and it will only drop to 60 to 70%. The only thing that changed was my updating Skyfire.

Not sure if it was co-incidental or not. This is the first time that I've had my Treo (over a month) that my battery died that quickly without anything running.

I'll have to keep an eye on Skyfire.

CozBoogie 09-25-2008 02:12 PM

Re: Skyfire Support

Updating to the new Skyfire itself will not cause a drop in battery performance unless Skyfire was running in the background. But since you said that it wasn't running in task manager then something else must be the culprit.

Make sure that you actually exit out of Skyfire using the menu under the right soft key.

Coz

That's what was strange. When I saw the battery running low, I checked task manager and nothing was running. I had a strong phone signal so I don't think searching for a signal was the culprit.

Maybe just a fluke. My Centro would do that once every few months but I found that the cause was usually some unknown network activity going on.

Brent212 09-25-2008 02:39 PM

Re: Skyfire Support

Maybe it was really still running and the task manager just didn't show it. I have a program called "Task Manager" that is different than the one that came with win mobile and sometimes it'll show applications running that the win mobile task manager doesn't.

There may be some truth to that. One thing I've noticed is that when I use the exit Skyfire option, I'll check the task manager and it doesn't show anything running.

Skyfire is the only program that I've seen do that. Usually when I close something out, I still have to kill it in the task manager.

I'll do a search for other task manager programs and see if Skyfire still shows up.

What other programs/apps/software do you have installed that uses data (e.g., PocketSportsCenter, WeatherPanel, etc.)?

Weatherpanel (updates every 15 minutes) - never had a problem with it though.

I have 4 email accounts set up to check every 30 minutes (Pocket Outlook.)

I believe those are the only things that auto-connect periodically and I've had that setup for weeks without any issues.

I also use Opera 9.5 beta and Opera mini every once in awhile but always make sure everything is killed in the task manager when I'm done.

I'll see if the battery drain continues. Hopefully it was just a "bizarre" quirk.

Also, I have a different battery in the phone now (one of my old Centro batteries) and have the original 800w battery on a charger. I'll swap out later, maybe the battery decided to crap out.

How did you get it to update that often?? The shortest update interval in mine is 30 minutes.

In my programs menu, there is something called "WP Configure Hourly Fix", when you open it up it gives you the following options for updates:

Every minute
Every 2 minutes
Every 15 minutes (which I believe is the default setting)
Never - I'll run it manually (run now)

I can't remember if this was a separate download or not, I'm thinking it may have been.

That actually addresses the errors with the graphs. The minimum WP update value is 30 minutes.

New skyfire 0.8 isn't as good as the old version 0.6. Some of the sites doesn't with the new version that worked with the old version such as the live365.com online player. It says that it needs a newer version of flash.

Anyways, reinstalled back my old skyfire, and the site works again. Anyone else having issues with some of the flash sites for the new skyfire?

"HOW TO GET SKYFIRE USRNAME AND PASSWORD IN 2:15 MINUTES"

The latest video on youtube it works :). Here is some more info:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MGdR5...y_videos_edit2

Watch it and here is how to get them:

I have succesfully hacked skyfire well not exactly hacked. It is quite simple actiolly. All you need is an us mobile phone number and an e-mail you don't need the sms the number is the pass. I will post a program that gives you those directly.
O and I am writing from skyfire. It is realy nice. How i figured that out siple this was only for americans. This means that it is something stupid. Then it hit me that the number must be the password. It took me 5 mins to get a random us mobile phone number to use and you have it.

HOW TO GET IT:

I. register at:
http://www.skyfire.com/register
(be careful what you select choose your device!!!)
If there is an error message saying that the number is already used get another one. I suggest that you use phone numbers from the bottom of the page or not from the first pages, because the ones on the first pages might be used by others like you.

II. You will need an us mobile phone number:
http://find.person.superpages.com/
OR:
http://www.mobilephoneno.com/ - easier that the one in the video.
?!?!GET A SURNAME AT:
http://genealogy.about.com/library/we...

III. Valid e-mail adres to use. Once you registered at skyfire open your e-mail and click on download to PC enter the phone numbers witout the "-" for instance if the nuber is 123-456-7890 than your password is 1234567890.

IV. Install it on your device and enter the e-mail addres and the password. There you go enjoy it

I have preloaded everything to save time.
