Check out the mp3car forum as there are a few bluetooth phone apps there.

Search for Caller ID*, the * acts as a wild card and will get you through the search. No idea if you will find anything but that is how to get around it.

WOW sounds like a huge job.. I know in my 745LI everything the audio systems wiring is completely fiber-optic... Its going to be a huge job to run new wiring.. And how will you deal with it, with the Idrive set up... Just curious as I would love to have a carputer, thats different than the BMW's Idrive system...

Re: Looking For CallerID App for PC-->Bluetooth.. Carputer
PhoneControl is OK. I messed around with it for a while (UMPC mounted on my dash), but it is a little laggy over bluetooth. In the end, it just wasn't a very satisfying experience so I ditched it. Now I'm just using my phone to receive phone calls....go figure
![]() It was an idea that seemed cool, but in reality wasn't particularly practical for me. One reason being that it is way too loud inside my S2000 to use the car speakers and computer mic. Might work out for you though. I'm sure a 745 is quite a bit quieter inside ![]() Edit: Looks like PhoneControl is no longer being developed: http://phoco.net/content.aspx?id=home Probably still copies floating around if you want to try and find one. Maybe there is a better program out there. If you do find something that works great over BT, post a link please. Last edited by bedoig; 03-06-2008 at 11:22 AM. |

Re: Looking For CallerID App for PC-->Bluetooth.. Carputer
It's a 99' so it doesn't have the iDrive system.. all standard copper wiring. Basically we're going to rip out the Stock Radio/amps and replace everything... 4 channel amp for components, and a sub amp... Going with Digital Coax.
I got some clarification from my friend, and he says he's not worried about sound through the speakers as he is the Caller ID popping up. He can continue to answer on the Headset. Just don't want to have to un-holster the phone to see who it is. Plus.. it's just cool. I'm looking into making a program by myself to handle this problem and get what we want.. but I havn't coded in 4 years.. a little rusty and much has changed. Looks like it shouldn't be that hard. Windows handles alot of the bluetooth stuff, all I should have to do is open a COM and send an OBEX transfer with my specifics of the caller. It will require 2 programs.. one for the phone and one for the computer. phaZed |

I also used Phone Control for a while in my EVO. Its ok, i didnt take the time to get all of the functions working right. I may go back to messing with it in the summer.

Re: Looking For CallerID App for PC-->Bluetooth.. Carputer
so your friend doesn't care about the sound in his bwm, he just wants the caller id? if i were you, i'd be a good friend and save him from getting laughed at by everyone that's in his car when the phone rings. clarion makes an in-dash bluetooth mp3 player, and a few other awesome bluetooth solutions that're...well...not so ghetto
