WebCamera Plus by AtekSoft... more than webcams?

I've been playing with the WebCamera Plus software from AtekSoft, and I gotta say this is really interesting stuff.

Using it as a webcam isn't so interesting, however the fact that it connects to your PC over IP means you can put it anywhere u have reception, sort of a satellite security camera that can be viewed remotely.

Also, since it can broadcast your screen as well as the camera input, you can use it as a makeshift video-out display to a computer monitor...
Even managed to work a 2-way video conversation with someone else directly from the handset... although I'll admit not the best way to do this.

I think if someone writes a server app to do what I described in the 2 way video thing... we could have a seriosuly useful function!

after you sign up they give you an account where you can view the camera on the webpage remotely, also can record and archive the video.

I saw comvu, but I don't get it. Is it beta, commercial, freeware, are they spying on your stream, etc?

it's free, well you get 2GB (if i recall) monthly transfer on the free account. obviously if you want to stream 24/7 then you might have to pay. i've only tested it for a short while but it seems to work pretty damn good.. i'll wait for the Touch RevA update for the extra upstream bandwidth before i use this service again.

i doubt they would spy on your stream (unless they have nothing better to do), but it does make it convenient where you can view the stream from anywhere with just a browser with no need to install software on the client. i wouldn't use the service if i needed it to be private,. as in walking around with the monkey hanging out
