Resco Backup for Pocket PC (v1.00 Beta)

Has anybody else tried this out yet? It's pretty fast, clean and easy to use interface and requires no reset unlike the other backup utilities.

Re: Resco Backup for Pocket PC (v1.00 Beta)

I read about this on another forum, and people are liking it a lot. Apparently, it doesn't require a reset prior to backup like Sprite. Also you can do incremental backups. My only problem is that's it's beta. I haven't read about anyone having problems yet. However, Sprite seems to be working o.k. for me, so I'm going to wait until the bugs (if any) have been worked out.

I'd like to know the answer, too

Instead, I'll use the possibility to announce v1.20, which is the 5th iteration since the mentioned BETA.

For those who do not know:
Resco Backup for Palm OS is (probably) Palm OS backup solution #1. Since the beginning it was constructed as a heavy tool incorporating a large number of features and we learned only subsequently how to hide the complexity so that also non-power users are satisfied.

PPC version took over a lot of concepts as they were proven in the past. With the just released version v1.20 we achieved a kind of a milestone and are considering possible paths for the further product improvement. This is the reason I am asking for your help.

As far I can evaluate RB:
- Incremental update offers a huge advantage in terms of speed.
- Possibility to verify backup results gives additional level of trust.
- It offers tools for analysis of the device changes and even of the differences between 2 backups.
- It is relatively small when compared to other backup solutions, so that more users can afford to store it in the main memory.

Concerning the speed, I'd like to hear your opinion. As a matter of fact our measurements on several devices showed that RB usually delivers the fastest times, but I got also a report that the restore part was 2x slower than SPB.

Exactly this type of observation is very important for us - but only then when we know the reason. (Such reason can be for example huge e-mail DB.)

There are a lot of things that could be added, such as exclude rules, FTP, registry-related tools etc. (Those who missed desktop unpack tool will find it on the Resco web site.) It would be great if you could share your point of view.
