Can you just backup the Ultimate Launch .ini file if I want to reinstall it and everything will be the way it was when I started, provided all the right icons are in the icons folder?

Im not sure if this problem has been address but for everyone with an apache (6700) that was having trouble, I upgraded my rom to the new 6.1 finally and I am not having any more problems.

Yes. This is a great way to back up ul if you don't use sprite or some other bu software.

Usually you cant even see the plugin when this happens. you have somehow crupted your ini file. Reinsall UL and see top of thbis post for suggestion to prevent you having to reconfigure everything if it happens again.

For some reason they show up like that in the config but should display correctly once you choose it on the today window.

Sweet, didn't even have to back it up...it asked me if I wanted to keep the user data on the phone, and when I installed the english version (for uniformity sake) it asked me if I wanted to use the default or the old version. So that worked like a charm!

Thanks for the reply eehrhard. Unfortunately for me, it applies all icons as an opera Mobile browser icon? Could it be because its unregistered? Hmm. Lets say I wanted to change the internet explorer icon in tab # 4.
I open UL config.
I choose tab #4.
I click on the ie icon in UL config under tab #4.
I choose > change,
I choose>Icon,
I click > browse,
I find my way to program files, ultimate launch, icons folder where there are some random icons I downloaded from here.

(I unzipped them on my pc into a new folder, then copied them from that folder into my phone using activsync)

The explorer shows all the icons as opera mobile icons. I go ahead and choose the ie icon I downloaded that is in this folder anyway. Icon preview shows it as a red opera mobile icon. I click ok anyway and ok to get out. I rotate cube to tab #4 and what use to be the default ie icon is now a red opera mobile icon!

Depends on where you installed the program. Its most likely in /program files/UltimateLaunch/UltimateLaunch.ini but if you installed to the card it would be there instead.

That is really odd. You you using XP-Icons? I know that when i open my icon folder they all show up with the opera icon on the list but when i select the ico it is correct on the tab. Maybe try re-creating the the shortcut from scratch.

sorry yes, this is what worked for me. I am running battery status and ultimate launcher with no freezing..though before when I had the HTC Home enabled I would get freezing all the time when trying to configure Ultimate Launcher.

When I set up UL previously I tried batterystatus and hated it, which is why I was shying away from it this time, but after investing some time on xda, I've got batterystatus set up the way I like... almost. I'll post pics in a day or two, and I'll be happy to share my batterystatus xml with anyone who's interested.


Here's another question.. any chance batterystatus would play nice with having two instances running? I'd like to set up my "notifications" line to be static at the top of my today screen, but I'd like the clock and other stuff on a page in UL.

Any input?

So, to rephrase my question... Is there another app that I can use to configure a nice digital clock/date screen?

Here's my what my today screen looks like.. I'd like to stay similar to this... Currently, everything in the blue theme is static and UL exists below, but I'd like more room on my screen for UL so I don't have to have 7 UL pages... I'd like to find a nice clock today plugin that I can have on one screen, and I'll just keep the notification bar from Batterystatus..

You can try rlToday. It is similar to battery status. I havent tried it but it is pretty customizable just like BatteryStatus. Let us know how it goes.

I actually just downloaded pocket clock... I'm gonna check it out and customize batterystatus so that it's just the notification bar and make that static with everything else UL...


However, I've got a new question.. I was consolidating tabs, and I deleted the default tab.. I moved the UL customization app into a different tab, but ever since I deleted the default tab, I CANNOT get UL to load...

Got any advice on how to fix this?

I downloaded ultimate launch I am a real newbie to this. I have HTC ppc6800 which should be the same as titian/mogul from what I have read. I could be wrong. Anyway, I can't get it to download am I just being stupid I get an error message that this is not a geniune ppc software and then blank screen. Any advice.

Can you get to the UL config from start menu or by going to \program Files\UltimateLaunch\UltimateLaunchConfig.exe?

Try going to one of your other tabs and make it the default by choosing Open at start up from the Tab tab at the bottom. I dont know if this will work or not but its worth a try.

Are you installing it to the phone? I would just say to try again. Maybe re-download it. Many of us have 6800s and have had no problems installing it.

Just a few UL tips (maybe a repeat):

1. Make sure that you don't have a today plugin checked on the today items AND within UL. It DOES not like multiple instances, particularly with Battery Status. I've had to Hard Reset a number of times on my vogue due to this.

Example: Lets say you have Battery Status as a tap within UL. It should not be checked in today items. Now lets say you decide to upgrade to a newer version of BS. When you install the newer version, it will automatically add it/activate it to the today items causing a conflict. So to be safe, before installing a new version, change the BS plugin within UL to somehting else (like device lock or something else you're not using at all). Then install it, uncheck BS in the today items, then readd it to UL.

2. I've had phone alarm and metrix NOT play nice with UL on my vogue, YMMV.

3. Today Agenda works nice as a calendar plugin, although recently I've switched to SBSH pocket breeze for added power and a more interactive GUI. I'm a big fan of most of SBSH's software. I use phoneweaver as my profile manager

4. You can make buttons/favorites of URL's to launch directly from a tab. Combined with the Operadefault mortscript plugin, this is pretty useful.

5. If UL disappears on you, uncheck it within the today items, soft reset, recheck it in the today items and--if needed--soft reset again.

Just received an email from daniel, Creator of ultimate launch. He is currently working on a new version!!!!!!! Here are some things we can look forward to in his new release

What can we expect for the new version?
- more font setting (color, size, weight, face, distance to icon,
positioning to icon, everything possible for each tab separately)
- easier configuration of icons
- PNG support
- external program for instructing UltimateLaunch to switch to a
specific/the next/the previous tab
- disabling of tabs
- new animation
- and more, wait and see (icon reflections, hopefully some more dynamic
effects (depends on the perforemance))

Im happy with Pocket plus, and I see very little functionality as I have more tabs and space than I know what to do with. The only interesting item is the animation, which is hideous. Does it have any other ones?

There are like 4 or 5 animations. I personally like the cube with the tabs turned off. Its way more customizable than PP and has uses very little memory.

Does it allow you to embedd today plugins? Does it add Safe Mode? Does it add button customizations and Alt+Tab? I can't live without any of those.

Yes it does embedd today plugins, no it does not do safemode, no it doesnt have custom buttons. It does however have a very small memory foot print compared to PP. Its also most customizable in every way. If you dont care about the aninmations or small memory footprint then PP is probably just fine IMO.

Off topic, My beef with PP is that I dont use most of the stuff that comes with it an hogs my memory - close button, tabbed browsing (who has the memory for that), scrolling (not that great), custom bottons (already included in custom roms). Actually what did it for me is the lack of integration with Diary (which i use), they took away the feature that let me put each tab in each PP tab, so now i just run Diary only on my today screen and put my today plugins into that.

As PropagandaX said no it doesnt do everything PP does but it does do the todayscreen part way better IMO. I had already purchased PP and still have it installed for the safe mode and other features I just dont use the today plugin it. It doesnt have to be an either or situation.

Not sure why you would want this but why would you just not put a shortcut on the tab and hit that to launch the program. If you wanted to to be visible from all of the tabs you could certainly put a copy on each page. You could also set a gesture to launch the desired program i.e. swipe down from any tab could launch application a.

Both? Have you deslected whatever plugin you do not want to open on the Settings>Personal>Today screen?

Yep. Its the strangest thing. I'm ready to pull my hair out on this one. I've tried all I can think of. I soft rest, I did a hard reset, and only loaded just the UL app. Still doing the same thing. Beats all I've seen.

I have had some weird things happen with today plugins but I haven't seen that one. You might try deselecting everything on the today plugin list and see if everything returns after a soft reset. It might be something with your registry.

Add me to the list of those who love UL. It does have a slight learning curve. The good news for me is that all the mistakes I made while learning UL (like having HTC Home in both the today screen and in UL) did not crash my Tilt. I think I have finally finished my UL. I have BatteryStatus Today-Plugin ver. 0.05.104 Build 0289 static up top on the Today Screen (I like knowing the temp and battery consumption at all times). Below BS is my UL which has 5 tabs. Thanks to eehrhard I have the header height set to 0.
The first tab is HTC Home that came with the ROM I got from Dutty over at xda-developers.com. It has my e-mail, threaded sms/mms, call log, a 9 contact photo dialer, weather, quick app launcher, music controller and phone profile.
The second tab is my fav apps.
The third tab is most of the config apps I use regularly.
The fourth tab is Windows Live plugin (for IM) above Face Contact (http://www.cnetx.com/products/contact/download.asp). I highly recommend this photo dialer. If you use this make sure you disable gestures so you can use this plugin's gesture feature.
The fifth tab is todayagenda (http://pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=1475) which I just got but like so far.
I got the icons from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=378260 props to bluemetalaxe for the icons.
The only thing I really have a desire for is a monthly calender that does not have to link to "calender" but like someone requested earlier just a view of the month. Until then...

Ok, so I just about have my today screen how I want it but I cant figure out how to set the quick launch highlight below the time to transparent / semi transparent. I am using the Windows original theme with UL and the Today Home plug-in. I set the background to semi transparent in HTC home organizer and am using the puck icons, but for some reason I get a square gray block / highlight over the pucks.

Can you change the theme after you have UL installed, without re-loading it? Do you need REV A or an unlocked ROM?

You shouldnt need anything special installed. You can still change your theme. You may need to reload the ini by making some change in UL for it to look right. All this is assuming you are talking about WM themes and not some other program but UL shouldnt interfere with any of them either.

Hmm, instead of plain gray, it's sort of fading from lighter gray at top to darker charcole at bottom. That's just like what the HTC theme does. I once had the flip of that glitch, using the HTC theme, and everything was going along with it, except for one thing: the background of the large start menu. It was the aqua teal turquoise color of WM6's theme! The fix turned out to be something seemingly unrelated, namely my background pic was a BMP. Changing it to JPG (about one tenth the size) did the trick. I suspect something somewhere may be hogging too much of your RAM space, bumping the desired display piece out, and replacing it with some default. (Good luck finding whatever it might be.)

How do I create a link to a control panel applet like the alarm clock or wireless mgr? I know how to do the "21#ctlpnl cplmain.cpl,26" line in a .lnk file but I also want the specific ICON to show up in UL instead of a generic icon. I've tried doing google but no luck. This is the last piece before I uninstall SPB Mobile Shell and make the switch to UL!

Well, I played with and changed a whole bunch of different things in Settings and HTC Customizer and finally got rid of that gray highlight on the launch tray...although I'm not exactly sure how...

Does anyone know the proper way to make the entire today plug-in transparent? I'm also wondering how to change the font color on the plug-in, ie., Sprint PCS and the date...
