Software to analyze foreign speech -> english text?

I saw a tv show on the science channel or something like that where it documented the cellphone lifestyle in the east. Well, alot of the phones in japan, asia, etc are far superior than the junk we get here.

A piece of software that caught my attention was the speech to text conversion software i saw.. i was like. damn! then they went on to barcode scanning with the cams.. but the speech analyzing really caught my attention.

it looked like a java app seeing as it was on a flip phone.

Sounds cool. I have the bar code thing on my mogul and it's fun to print out QR codes and read the ones I run across with my phone camera.

Try a program called "QuickMark" for that.

As for the universal translator, I'm sorry. I've never seen anything that cool for my PPC.

Yea we get screwed when it comes to cell phone technology. European markets are far more advanced, i think it might have something to do with FCC.... just a guess
