Someone please let me know when we can customize the interface with our own (or choose from a library of) pics/graphics/icons. Oh and when they have a task manager to close programs. Maybe WM6.1 will give us finger control without all these add-to-the-top=slow-down-even-more interfaces, but its doubtful, as Windows Mobile hasnt changed much since CE.

When 'touch-scroll' is built into the OS things work so much better....

Maybe Apple will give us a WM6 emulator LOL

capthr 02-03-2008 09:15 PM

Pointui just released 1.01b test 12 and should be releasing a new official 1.02b tomorrow. It has come a long way. Many new customization options but not everything I would want. But worth trying.

kmeleon 02-04-2008 08:53 AM

Pointui App?

Hey I see that Pointui is out for WM5 and 6, has anyone tried it yet? Will it work for the new 3.16 rom?

Success100 02-04-2008 10:13 AM

i liked this app, but it ran great sometimes, and other times ran like crap. Ill wait til the next release...

I also got very bored with it after a few days. I mean of course WM isnt the easiest to use but i know when i get bored with my setup i can customize it in a pinch and have something completely different that still does everything i need it to.

Im keeping my eye on this...despite the problems it has, its been the best wm6 overhaul/overlay created.

nbohmer 02-04-2008 11:07 AM

PointUI Dev Team has just released 1.02b.

This update is the same as test 12 if anyone had it. Except now you can choose between black or blue.

Enjoy.

Success100 02-04-2008 11:14 AM

ill go check it out thanks

Touche' 02-04-2008 11:57 AM

Okay, I'm confused. People are acting as if this JUST came out, but I put this on my Mogul MONTHS ago...and I'm talking about the updated version. What am I missing? Is there a new update that everyone is talking about??

bugzy 02-04-2008 12:42 PM

how stable has Point UI been for most of you?
hows the performance?

eballin 02-07-2008 12:46 AM

ive been using it for about a week or two now and i havent had one problem with it.. so ill say pretty damn good..

winmobilelawyer 02-07-2008 10:22 PM

it has been extremely stable for me. It just gets boring. The new locking in the new version is great! It locks and then fades back to the home screen so you can see the clock and indicators and when anything is touched you have to slide to unlock it. Great!

It just gets boring after a while. But its still extremely new so we have to give the devs a chance to iron out the features and bugs before they start adding custumization features. But it is extremely promising!

Malatesta 02-07-2008 10:56 PM

Very stable for me...

I wrote a bit up on it with some screen shots of the new version (including the customize screen):

eballin 02-07-2008 11:56 PM

i tried to download the black version and everytime i tried to see my appointments on my calender it locks my phone.. ANY IDEAS?

Thats the only feature I like about PointUI.. (no offense to the developers)
I just like my WM6 settings more..
thanks

Does the phone button work on the Mogul yet? Is the touch scrolling stuff still backwards?

98classic 02-10-2008 07:30 PM

finally decided to try it out today since i was gonna update roms anyway and i must say its pretty nice and fast, te only thing that gets me is the scrlling. instead of acting like you're dragging the page with your finger it acts as if you wee using the scroll bar no matter where your finger is. other than that its pretty nice.

muyoso 02-10-2008 07:48 PM

Yea, this program needs to be MUCH more customizable for it to catch on. I dont like how half the icons behave, and the scrolling is completely awkward.

itsall_cooool 02-10-2008 11:59 PM

I just put it on my backup phone (Treo 700wx) to play around with it...

Still needs a program closer, thats the most frustrating thing to me

Nic 02-11-2008 12:13 PM

I appologize everyone. Yesterday, somewhere in this thread, I was able to find a link that showed how to customize the main screen icons of pointui. I searched today and I could not find. If anybody could direct me to that link, it would be greatly appreciated.

Zyphlin 02-11-2008 12:28 PM

There's a lot of work that's been done on it, both with the main program and exterior ones.

There's pocketCM skins to make the program match the PointUI theme, both black and blue.

Ditto for today screen backgrounds.

Phone Dialers have been created for both black and blue, as has a windows media player skin.

I believe someone may be working on a calculator reskin. A "wait" icon that is made with the pointUI icon has been made, as well as a boot screen I *Think*.

I'm currently working on a "CubeUI" pointui theme touchflo cube, to give a bit better program launcher to the interface. I'm also hoping to fiddle with TweakUI to try and color the UI to match a bit closer.

The new version as well I believe lets you keep your old top bar, meaning you can use "X" button type managers to close programs. I believe it also has an option to close programs instead of minimzing when you keep its top bar.

So improvements are continually being made, considering its a young program. The developers seem to keep their ears open to the community and include things with each update that are in general wanted, though at the moment a lot of it is focused on bug fixing as well as it is a free project. Its got a lot of potential, espicially if they ever go open source.

I am pretty impressed. I have installed a pretty heavy kitchen on my XV6700 and this runs very smoothly on top of that still. Keep up the cool work.

I've been reading up on this. It looks cool, I want to install it on my Touch but I already have SPB Mobile shell. Will PointUI override that or do I have to uninstall SPB first? I would assume having both would cause a major lag in the device.

i'm not quite sure how they would both operate on the same device... i couldnt imagine that they would play well with eachother... but there's only one way to find out. let us know how it goes.

:violent2:Have the PointUI developers got their act together in the uninstall department yet? I installed an earlier version of PointUI and had to do a complete wipe to get it off my device....

Re: PointUI - New Home UI Revolution - MERGED

I've been using Pointui on my touch for a while now. Heres what makes it work great.
Disable the cube in the tflo registry settings
Set your finger pressure to 5000
Use mortscript found in the pointui forum to get rid of the today screen and tada a fully working device using exclusively pointui
I then used uitweaker to make the os colors match point ui for the boring windows screens.
As far as a task manager i am using the built in point ui method. If you use their top bar all you have to do is tap it and select force close if you want to close a window. the x just minimizes it.
Also Polens Vista Keyboard matches nice
Pagepool set to 12 yeilds no lag

My stylus gets no more use!

1 Attachment(s)
Point UI Blue theme
Using Ui Tweaker--> Syscolor Changer-->Menu-->Import
Select the color.sys file attached here
Makes All the menus and ugly windows stuff match point ui

If someone can improve on this id like to see where this can go

Point UI

I hadn't seen if anybody had posted this up yet but I downloaded it for my Mogul because I am testing interfaces for when my new vouge gets in this week

http://www.pointui.com/Home.aspx

It runs smooth on the mogul and to me it is nothing short of amazing. I havn't encountered any bugs yet, and did I mention, freeware?

From the website.

"Take back control of your device with Pointui Home.
No need to fumble for a stylus anymore as Home is designed with generously sized controls.

Home's intuitive controls and highly responsive user interface makes using your device a breeze. Control your device via touch or the directional navigation"

Actually, been on here for a while just dont post much, and this was the slickest thing I have found and it was recently updated. Didn't actually find out about it here. Thanks for the comment though. Just thought there might be someone else that might be interested in this that didn't know about it. Especially since it isn't actively discussed.
