Caller ID announcement

Hello All:

Has anyone installed Microsoft Voice command 1.6 Pocket PC version on their HTC 6800? Microsoft claims for Mobile 5.0. I had it on my PPC6700 and it worked somewhat but the 6700's built in speaker was always poor so the caller ID announce was not the greatest. A quite room was the only time one could make out the voice announce caller ID.

Given the above, will 1.6 work with Mobile 6.0? Has anyone tried it and is the caller id announce clear and understandable from say across the room? I had and old Sanyo MM-7400 http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=631 (say what you will about it), but the voice announce on that phone (it was built into the unit no software needed), was superb.

Any feedback I would appreciate.

Thanks all

I have installed it on my new 6800 and it works great. It finally works through the earpiece rather than through the speakerphone. I have not used it on the speakerphone, I only use it with my bluetooth. Hope that helps.

Hello thanks for your response as you have been the only one to do so thus far.

Does in fact your handset announce the caller through your earpiece? As you may know, the Voice command software should announce the incoming call as follows. “Call from Joe, phone number xxx-xxx-xxxx.” I used to have a PPC-6700 and it worked like the above. However, my new PPC-6800 does not.

I think I may have found the answer. The below link says it all about the Windows Mobile build date. Pay particular attention to “Older Windows Mobile 5.0 Devices”.

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobi...d/default.mspx

So, if your Mogal is functioning, with caller ID announce, please let me know how you did it.

Thank you.

Call ID

Hi, thanks for your response. I think it is all about the Mobile 6 build date as the link I listed claims this. Someone needs to tweak the software to enable the feature to work like it did in Mobile 5.

On another note, your youtube video is trick! What theme cube are you running?
I have tried the touch theme and the I-phone theme and have gotten bored with both already. In addition, I don’t particularly like to use my finger to engage the cube as fingerprints get out of control on the screen and I find myself constantly cleaning. Your set up is nice as you are using your styli. Care to share what files you are using?

Thanks

I have a Mogul-6800 with WM6 and Voice Command works fine announcing calls through the speakerphone. It needs to be set in Start > Settings > Voice Command (Phone > Notifications). It's not very loud and you have to set it to either announce through Speakerphone or Bluetooth, you can't do both.

Hey Priest thanks for your response. According to Microsoft:

“Incoming caller ID announcements will be spoken via the phone speaker on devices with a Windows Mobile build prior to 15097.3.0.0. To check which build is on your device, go to settings >about or start >controlpanel >about. If your build number is lower that 15097.3.0.0, this will be true for your device.”

So the question is, what is your build date? Are we missing something?

Thanks for your time.
