Re: Slingbox Question/Problem
Sorry it doesn't work like that. You have to have two seperate sources for it not to change your home tv. For example, a cable box and then just a coaxial cable. There is no way, with a slingbox, to watch one thing remotely and something different on your tv.

Re: Slingbox Question/Problem
i found the answer http://support.slingbox.com/get/KB-2000136.html. i could have kept the solo because the pro-hd does the same thing. so, the pro-hd will go back to best buy, and i will re-purchase the solo. what a dumb idea slingbox!!

Re: Slingbox Question/Problem
actually the Pro HD version does allow independent channel watching because unlike the Solo, it contains its own analog and ATSC tuners. You must take the RAW cable signal and wire it directly to the ProHD, not the output from the cable box. Then tell the ProHD to view its own tuner output. You probably wont get the premium channels like HBO, and a few cable companies like Comcast make it even more difficult.
If your cable provider gives you an analog signal as well, the cheapest option is to buy a older Slingbox from ebay, like the Classic, Pro or Tuner. These all have builtin analog tuners to give you separate channel viewing. About $50 on ebay... Last edited by monkeyboy; 07-05-2010 at 10:59 AM. |
