Re: Google Maps updated 4.1.0 with voice search!
Thanks for the this. I've been waiting for gmaps with voice.
I installed on omnia in my storage running 23409.5.4.0 by Blazing Wolf and spbms3.53. Search function worked 3 times the gmaps hung had to soft reset. uninstalled, SR reinstalled in main memory. same thing 3 searches then hung. Had the same issue with the gmaps version that appeared 03/10. ended up going back to 3.2.1(#12), which works fine. time to flash again? |

Re: Google Maps updated 4.1.0 with voice search!
You guys did notice that Google specifically says that search by voice is NOT in the Windows Mobile version, right?

Did it specify perhaps that Navigation (voice for directions, turn by turn) was not for Windows Mobile? Bc yeah- Google is never going to do that for us. So I saw the thread yesterday I think. Downloaded and just wanted to report back, say thank you, because it seems to work better for me than the last version (could just be in my head. You know, new version=faster version). So thanks a lot. |

Re: Google Maps updated 4.1.0 with voice search!
I have now, based on multiple reports that voice search actually does work in WM. It actually does.
At the time I posted, though, I had neither downloaded nor tried it. I like to know what an "upgrade" is supposed to do before I install it. In this case, Google specifies that voice search is not in the WM version, so I wondered why everyone assumed it was. An example of a good reason to be wary of "upgrades" is the new Bing version, which is essentially useless compared to older versions. In case anyone is wondering, Google also says turn-by-turn directions and voice directions are not in the most recent WM version. In those cases, they are correct. |
