Re: HTC Manila eReader 1.0.20113925.00 - Standalone Edition
Here's what worked for my HD2...
I wanted this on the storage card...if you want it on the device then choose to install both on device. Installed this to storage card and did soft reset: Quote:

if you install the cab i posted a few post back it will allow you to import all types of file formats into the book list, pdfs or doc files for example. however when you launch them they wont launch within the reader they will bring up the corresponding program so you must have adobe reader too.

Re: HTC Manila eReader 1.0.20113925.00 - Standalone Edition
Sorry if this is the noobiest question ever, but I tried putting the .cab on my storage card. When I get on my phone and try to click on it, it says "There is no application associated with "HTC Reader 1.0" Run the application first, then open this file from within the application".... Then I noticed that you said you "placed the shortcut under Start > Multimedia".... so tried to find a "Multimedia folder on my TP2 from my computer in order to put the .cab there. Couldn't find it. Could you tell me step by step what I should do? Again, sorry if this question is really nooby.

The error you're getting sounds more like you're trying to run a program from a link and the link is broken. As I read it, it sounds as if whoever cabbed up the program set it to place a link in the Start menu in the Multimedia folder. You'll just need to tap Start then look through to see if you now have a folder called Multimedia. If so, tap that and you should see a link to the reader. If I misunderstood what you said, you may need to place the link manually. In order to put a link/shortcut in a folder, that folder must first exist. If it doesn't, you can easily create it. The Start menu folders are located on the device (not the storage card) under \windows\start menu\programs. Grab a file manager (Total Commander, which is free, Resco, whatever) and navigate there. If the folder Multimedia doesn't exist, create it. Then go to your link and move or copy it to within that folder. You'll then be able to select it from the Start menu. The file manager should also let you check the link to ensure that whatever it's pointing to is actually there. You can then either move files or correct the link to fix it. My guess is that if you install to the device memory, the link will likely work. |

Re: HTC Manila eReader 1.0.20113925.00 - Standalone Edition
Ok, step by step this is what I'm doing;
1) I Dowload the the Cab that Mr. X privides on the first page of this thread to my PC's desktop. 2) I connected my TP2 via USB to my PC. Went to My Computer > Mobile Device > MyWindowsMobileBased Device > Storage card and moved the file to that folder. 3) I disconnected my TP2 from the USB. Went to the Start Menu of my TP2, tapped on "File Explorer" and tapped on Storage Card and finally tapped on HTC Reader 1.x 4) Got the following message as soon as I did that. "There is no application associated with "HTC Reader 1.0" Run the application first, then open this file from within the application". After reading your post, I Went into Total Commander and added a MultiMedia Folder to the Start Menu because I couldn't find one. Tried to delete the cab in the storage card, put it back in there. tried tapping it, same results. Also tried adding that cab to the Multimedia folder. Nothing. Advice? Anyone? Maybe I'm doing one of the steps wrong. And even though I'm new to all of this I have used cabs people have posted. |

Re: HTC Manila eReader 1.0.20113925.00 - Standalone Edition
Thank you Calvano and Mstevens. Turns out that I didn't realize it was a .rar and not a .cab. Now that I actually exracted the file prior to copying it to the storage card I could istall it on my TP2 with no prob. works great. I don't even get those book errors people are getting.
I'm wondering, is there a way, using this reader that one can mess with the margins, color etc of the book? Kinda lke the BN ereader? |
