100% Working HTC touch Keyboard

1 Attachment(s)
I was waiting for this version along time, someone over XDA just extracted the fully working HTC keyboard, its works awsome, get it HERE

Edit by Pibe38: I'm attaching the CAB file compressed into a ZIP file. It's much easier... plus I hate having to wait for Rapidshare

here you go

budney 10-26-2007 09:11 AM

This looks sweet! Dose it function by double tap? Example 1 tap for Q, 2 for W.

digiblur 10-26-2007 09:14 AM

Acckk...that brings back nightmares of the Blackberry Pearl keyboard!

Love the full keyboard on the Mogul.

lennysh 10-26-2007 09:32 AM

Love this keyboard... Bring's back double tap, and T9 entry. As well as number pad, and more...

mnksauce 10-26-2007 04:13 PM

i like it! i was using the pocketcm one for awhile, but this one is a lot better. i mean i'm not going to use it when i'm chatting on AIM or anything, but its nice to have a on screen for responding with a quick text or something. thanks!

Pibe38 10-26-2007 04:42 PM

Anyone know the differences between this one and Touchpal?

winmobilelawyer 10-26-2007 04:45 PM

TouchPal does not use the double tap. It uses a new tap and slide type entry. Its pretty innovative but I just could not get used to it for the life of me! I use FingerTouch from Teksoft. Fully skinable and 5 different keyboard layouts.

But I am going to try this touch keyboard out, seems tasty.

the different that this one is extracted right from the HTC touch and touchpal is a mockup of touch keyboard, I would go for the original for sure.

TouchPal isn't a mock up. The only similarity is two keys per button and they are around the same size. TouchPal uses a totally new and different way to enter the letters.. you tap and slide (left, up, or right) to get each letter/symbol on that key.

stepchild 10-26-2007 07:05 PM

Can this be loaded on storage card or must it be installed on device?

I tried it and I didnt now like, you have to slide your finger Righr, Left in the button, pain! maybe the mockup wasnt the right word but it is based on Touch.

oxbrother 10-26-2007 08:33 PM

will it work on the Tilt?

stepchild 10-26-2007 08:45 PM

I loaded it on my device and could never get it to work.

It would not change from default keyboard to it.

I have a mogul and it works like a charm, anybody can confirm after this post that works perfect in Mogul?

Smoky350 10-27-2007 12:10 AM

I also installed it on my mogul without any problems. Once installed press the little keyboard on the bottom of the screen when in a message and select touch keypad or touch keyboard depending on if you want a 12 or 20 button keyboard.

winmobilelawyer 10-27-2007 02:16 AM

I had it installed on my Mogul and it worked just fine. It just really wasn't for me. I tried to get used to it and i just couldnt lol! Maybe because i'm left handed? Who knows, but it is a GREAT keyboard if you can get used to it. It had no delays, it looks great, and it was FREE!

Definitely try out TouchPal. Also try out the HTC Kb in this thread and then also try out FingerTouch by Teksoft, its 9.95 after trial but I would definitely recommend it.

Pibe38 10-27-2007 04:22 AM

Weird. Did not work for me. Installed and peformed soft reset, when I selected the keyboard it just jumped back to the default WM keyboard.

Any ideas?

InvincibleLiving 10-27-2007 12:36 PM

not working on apache, even with sipchange program, there is no change from default kb...

PWeber 10-27-2007 06:31 PM

Installed fine on my 6800. I cannot seem to catch on to it. Anyone have a link the basic use instructions of this keyboard?

I see other have gotten this to work on their Moguls... anyone have any idea what I could be doing wrong? I'd really like to try it.

If you are running the colonel's rom, it appears to install correctly (no errors). But when i switch to it, i get the standard keyboard.

I switched to dcd's rom and it installed perfectly.

Pibe, which rom are you running?

InvincibleLiving 10-28-2007 11:06 AM

has anyone had any success running this on apache?

budney 10-28-2007 11:10 AM

I had it working for a while, and really like it. I may just get the Touch (Vogue) when it comes out. :) But most of the afternoon trough this morning it displays a standard type keyboard. Not sure why that is happening. :(

motisu 10-28-2007 12:12 PM

I just installed it on my BA and it works perfectly. I can't say that I like it but maybe its just a matter of getting used to it. I also tried the touchpal and couldn't get used to that either. I'm too set in my "1 key, 1 letter" mindset.](*,)

DbLoCk3NiNe 10-28-2007 12:44 PM

works great and much better then the normal keyboard... thanks

I'm using the latest Sprint ROM.

InvincibleLiving 10-29-2007 02:32 AM

not sure what changed but this now works on my 6700... the jury is still out on it though. me likes in theory, we'll see in practice.

mnksauce 10-29-2007 04:15 AM

so after i installed this keyboard, my auto name/number input for text messages stopped working.

the keyboard works fine, but that auto name recognition thing is gone. it was quite useful, anyone if this has anything to do with the keyboard or is there another option?

Dagger969 10-29-2007 08:47 AM

ok, well it installed just fine on my mogul, but it shows a normal keyboard layout format. It only shows 1 function per button. Only one letter, regardless of whether i pick 12 or 20 keys. Any suggestions?

I have noticed this behavior with my Mogul with certain apps. Also this KB dose not work in Weather Panel. :???:

Do you have TouchPal installed? I had the same problems when bother were installed. Try this:

1. Uninstall TouchPal
2. Soft reset.
3. Install HTC Keyboard.
4. Soft reset.
5. Hopefully enjoy!

ROM shouldn't matter.

-----------------------------

On a different note, anyone notice that when T9 is selected, when you type on the slide out keyboard the T9 is still in effect?

idenkilla 10-29-2007 12:08 PM

yea it doesnt work for me either. ima newbie and all i know is that i have sprints new rom

VW 10-29-2007 01:31 PM

Works well on my treo and it coexists with touchpal..oops spoke too soon it just locked up on me :p

VW 10-29-2007 01:42 PM

edit2: really spoke too soon as the bottom row of keys appears to be missing

Analyzer52 10-29-2007 02:13 PM

Am I missing something? Why does everyone want an on screen keyboard for a phone that has a full keyboard, what would be the big benefit?

jamesus 10-29-2007 02:44 PM

Quick text entering when you don't want to slide out the key board...depends on the user if they are looking for a more one-handed use of the device.
