One-hand use, for moments when you can't open the keybard, etc. People obviously have an interest and use for it or this thread wouldn't be 4 pages already ;)

@jamesus: Yeah I figured, but someone asked me what ROM I was running so I figured I'd post that. I'm happy with Touchpal, I'm not going to uninstall it just to try this one out.

I am practicing for the touch

InvincibleLiving 10-29-2007 04:17 PM

sometimes yanking out the full fb isnt convenient like when driving ect or when you only have one hand free. and the stock kb will not get the job done when you try to one-hand it so these various other keyboards give us options, and options are always a good thing.

lemeiux1 10-29-2007 04:43 PM

yeah I used it for like a day but then had to uninstall it because of the retarded xt9, wouldnt go away even when using the hardware keyboard!

idk how people can put up with it

Odd, I don't have that problem.

hoodracer 10-29-2007 09:28 PM

ok i have just tested this program it is nice the keys are abit bigger than the touch pal but i feel its the same as touch pal the prediction is nice but i still have to go with touchpal on this one i,m using helmi 3.5 kitchen for apache the problem i have with this is that when i change btw touch key boards i had to soft reset b/c this new k/b wouldnt allow it... i will try it on apache wm6 kitchen when i go back
ps. the space where to select for which prediction you want is smaller then the one in touchpal.

B18DelSolT 11-01-2007 05:48 AM

wow this is real good for quick typing so much better then defualt, only camn across one issue, and thats with opera, heres what happens when i use it. t e s t thats only for opera, also the backspace button bcomes a second space button alo lol, but if im using opera the keyboard is out so i dont care much for that

ohh yeah, also has anyone noticed that after installing this, when you go to write a name for the t field, it doesnt bring up contacts that start with the letters you have, just thought id point that out also.

scotbotmosh 11-01-2007 09:09 AM

Works great for me on my 6700 with Helmi's WM6 ( I have SIP changer installed ) After a reset it worked fine.

This is way better and easier than touchpal. I think I found a new keyboard for good. Now I need to figure out how to cook this sucker up in a ROM

HostileJava 11-01-2007 02:49 PM

Works fine on my 6700 accept in pocketcm. The keys show up kinda retarded and the icon to change the keyboard or shrink it isn't on the screen. Does anyone else have this problem?

aznmode 11-01-2007 03:26 PM

Tried it but there is no way this is better than touchpal IMO. Touchpal has predictive and selective letter without having to tap another key to change input method. Also you cant delete word per word like touchpal. Only 1 letter at a time. Space bar is in the center which you could accidentally hit the tx9 key or Sym key. Touchpal is on the bottom left. Cant really make any mistake hitting that. Also doesnt have quick button for .com, .net etc. Too much screen presses. IMO touchpal seems more suited for the Touch since it has swipe screen functions. I still prefer Touchpal over this one for sure but thanks for pointing this one out.

after useing this keyboard on 2 custom roms dcd and UTCG i don't like it. with it installed when you go into text massaging you don't get the drop down menu of choices when you start to type a name.

wiinex 11-01-2007 09:01 PM

this is not a good app at all. its so hard to use. it will automatically change to that really thin compressed keyboard the covers almost half my screen on other apps i open then it will change to the phone pad looking style which not very user friendly. the flatness look is awful i would still consider using touchpal or any app that has a sort of 3d look. agghh... this app is no good.

freeza 11-04-2007 03:10 PM

It works, then it doesn't until soft resetting.

Meaning, the choice of words list does not appear after a while until a soft-reset, then it works and breaks again....

If it didnt do that, i'd use this exclusively.

ok, guys who is interested in having the 40 keys all the time? someone in XDA dev applied the hack so you can use the 40 keys but you will loose the xt9 option, if yes then I will upload the necessary files with a tut in the 1st post.

Can the hack work in the reverse way (i.e. I sometimes get the 40 keys but I would prefer NOT to have them show up at all)?

soIsezto'emIsez 11-08-2007 11:16 PM

For those who couldn't get this to work on the Mogul, I was having the same problem. I'd go to "input" on the settings menu and see the touch kb there and switch to it but it would always revert back to the default kb when I exited. What I found out was it IS installed but I had to select it from the bottom keyboard icon.

1. Go into any program or menu.

2. Look at the bottom of the screen, you'll see the tiny keyboard icon you'd normally see, but right next to it is a little tiny "up" arrow. Click on the arrow and a list pops up and you can choose the touch keyboard (or touchpal or whatever) from that list.

That's what worked for me.

surfsup 11-09-2007 01:25 PM

"A Midlet thread threw an exception. Kill the Midlet?" I keep getting this error...just installed Operamini4 again thinking the "official" release today would work. This is the first thing that happens after I put in a URL address.

HTC Touch is my phone.

brett701 11-12-2007 01:47 AM

this is a very cool layout. it figures out the word for you when you type and you only have to touch each dual key once. This is a layout that is hard to get used to , but once you get used to it you can really fly. i know bc/ my gf has the same layout on her blackberry pearl and it always pissed me off that she could type so fast with one hand. I am having trouble getting it working and installed. is anyone else having this problem?

HOTBOY28 11-15-2007 05:19 AM

im new here.. just got the touch. how do i get the keyboard hack? need help thanks.

Mafamaticks 11-15-2007 07:42 AM

So far the keyboard doesn't respond when using your using Opera Mini 4. You can input anywhere in the browser except when you're inside a password field. I haven't tried tested other stuff yet. Other than that I like this sip.

jlaudio 11-15-2007 02:09 PM

I got this to work but on the xt9 it does not show the words above the keyboard like the touch am i missing something or is this right with this program

Then this would be your default keyboard...no need to install this program.

HOTBOY28 11-15-2007 04:26 PM

Touch Keyboard

I Meant That I Wanted To Keep The 40 Keys Board All The Time. When You Go To Type An Actual Message It Reverts Back To The 20 Keys Board. Hate That Board.. Someone Said They Found A Way Around That..

That's funny. We are having opposite problems. For some odd reason, mine always gets stuck on the 40 kepypad and I'm looking for the 20 key to be a default...

Anyways, I think there is a registry change you can make, but I'm not sure what it is.

eballin 11-20-2007 06:00 PM

dakidobf 11-27-2007 12:17 PM

Just downloaded and it works great. Good for texting while driving... not that I condone that sort of thing.

Need2KNow 12-04-2007 10:45 PM

rhg84 12-05-2007 03:41 AM

works well on my mogul except with my palm threated messaging i cant see what i'm typing. Any way to fix this? I would really like to keep it for one handed typing

rhg84 12-12-2007 01:45 PM

it stopped working for me. It would let me select the touch keyboard but would not come up. Anyone know why?

Mkostera1 12-18-2007 02:46 AM

Great app, thanks

xweaponx 12-18-2007 07:58 PM

Downloaded it today and removed PCM keyboard (which was very nice) & IM selector program... This keyboard is great and working perfectly on my Alltel PPC6800. I have the setting on keyboard, not keypad.
