Today Screen modification question

Hope this is the right section for this. On my Treo 700wx I have installed SPB's Pocket Plus and want it to take up all but the taskbar area. I have managed via the Today screen options to get rid of all bars except one. It is the little bar that says my carriers name "Alltel" on the left and on the right side has icons from Location settings and for turning Bluetooth on and off. Is there a way to remove or hide this bar? I am running the basic WM5 that comes on an Alltell Treo 700wx. Thanks for any help.
