I read somewhere (forget where now) that indicated the app might be for smart phones, not PPCs, but i couldn't confirm that when I tried. I don't know enough about the development environment for WinMo to figure it out for myself right now. The nice thing, though, is that it's written in C#, so I'd hope at least a lot of the business logic in it would be 100% portable.

Hope that helps!
Yah, I started off looking at that code, but the stuff i'll be doing will be a lot more complex than that. I must admit that the mobilesecretary is kinda what started me down this path.

I'm developing a fairly complex rule/criteria framework for handling events and having a lot of user configurability. The business logic behind that framework is rather agnostic, however the stuff is all coded against winmo-specific stuff like Contacts, SmsMessage, etc.

I just finished a fairly major refactoring effort, and things should be moving along faster now. I hope to have a limited beta out by the end of the year.

Wonderful! This will vastly increase the Wife Approval Factor of my phone since I spend most of my time in labs where I can't bring my cell.

I'm not quite following what you're saying, crazychef.

Forwarding emails will eventually be part of the program, but the highest value will be forwarding SMS to email, as well as sending emails upon incoming/missed call events.

Re: Developing app for sms forwarding, missed call notification, auto-responding

I'm trying really hard to get a beta out the door by the new year, which will have the bare minimum functionality:

You will be able to set up rules for events (incoming call, missed call, voicemail notification, new sms message). Rules will have criteria and actions. Criteria can be time of day, who the caller is, what the text of the sms equals/contains/startswith/etc. Actions right now are limited to message actions, where you can send messages (via email or sms) to an entered address, or to the original sender, etc.

Once the base functionality has been ironed out, then future versions will include stuff like GPS reporting, remote admin of the application via SMS, contact lookups via SMS, SMS forwarding, appointment reminders, incoming email rules.
This post has been thanked 1 times.

would any of the functionality of dashwire be helpful? they have a wonderful site to archive sms and respond. just not a way to foward it to email. It would be nice to get the visual voicemail to work. a desktop or web based app so you could check your voicemail, it is an option with dashwire just not avail to sprint users.

I bet the code would , but ( correct me if I'm wrong ) this is geared more for phone2phone link, where dashwire only seams interested in the phone2webpage link. also one of the downsides to dashwire is the data/power hungry always sync.

for sprint voice mail, you may want to look into www.gotvoice.com this service works backwards to most in that it will call and check your voicemail, so no fwding charges apply.. only catch is the free service will only check a few times a day.. but that's good enought for me, I rarely listen to them anyway, I just call the person back.. works well to get rid of the annoying notifications

Re: Developing app for sms forwarding, missed call notification, auto-responding

I bet this program will suck. Nah just kidding sounds like a must I don't think i will need it for myself but you never know what the future holds. Just wanted to know will this program work if i just want to turn ringer off? What im trying to say is will this program have a feature like a "do not disturb" feature. Congrats on the marriage.
