My tabless fix for Htc Home.

**Discontinued**

This "fix" gets rid of the 5 or 6 tabs at the bottom of the Htc home plugin.

First off, i am not responsible for anything installing either of these programs or my "fix" do to your device. The htc home plugin has been known to cause freezing on boot with some devices although this cab provided is by far the most stable and i have had no problems with it.

**Warning** Htc home may cause you to have to hard reset your device. Install at your own risk.

**IMPORTANT** Even if you already have these programs installed, you must re-install these included cab files or this "fix" will not work properly.

**IMPORTANT** Unzip this file on your computer first and then transfer the unzipped folder to your device.

**IMPORTANT** i have locked this zip file with a password to prevent leeching. The password is: dwizzy130 . just like that, no caps.

Instructions
Follow them exactly!

0) unzip the fix on your computer first and then transfer the unzipped folder to your device.

1) install the htc home.cab and the hhc.cab files provided. then soft reset.

2) go to settings/today/items and uncheck htc home.

3)go to hklm/software/microsoft/today/items/htchome in the registry. go to the key "type" and change its value from 5 to 4.

4) go to htc home customizer in your programs list and let it set up on its first run. once it is set up, go to the tabs tab by hitting the right arrow down at the bottom. Then get rid of all of the tabs in the selected colum by hitting the button that looks like this << . Then hit save and do a soft reset.

5) Lastly, replace the folder, htchome in the root of your device with the one included in this "fix".

6) soft reset.

7) Go to settings/today/items and check htc home.

soft reset.

9) you will then notice htc home with a grey bar in place of the bottom tabs. just open your texts, emails,or missed calls from the 3 icons above the grey bar. then close whatever you just opened and the grey bar will have dissapeared. you will have to do this after each soft reset.

10)now your done! enjoy htc home without the tabs! now it wont waste half of your today screen!

Re: My tabless fix for Htc Home.

I was attempting to simplify the install into a single cab for those wanting to do this and have one created. I installed it for testing and it worked like you show in your pics, but there was a gap still the size of the tabs between the HTC Home and the next today plugin.

When you install following your directions, do you get the same thing?

EDIT: Here's a pic of what I am referring to.

EDIT: Since the space is going to be there, it looks like I cabbed it up right. Here is a single cabbed version that does everything for you except soft reset. So install cab and reboot.

I made one small change to the registry on the cab so it doesn't put the battery in the top title bar. Whatever you have there (clock, date, battery, etc) will not be changed by this cab. I also did not include HHC since the tab removal is a registry change incorporated into the cab.

Re: My tabless fix for Htc Home.

Um. Im not sure if you need to do all that.

I came up with an invisible icon set and background last week sometime. All you do it load them into HHC and it shows the same way.

Heres my screen. Should hold on soft reset too.

Stoths that space is still gonna be there. If his is somewhat the same as mine the icons are really still there just not visible.

Will the changes persist even after resets?

The cab I posted will act the same as what dwizzy described. I just took his work and simplified the install. The end product is the same.

Re: My tabless fix for Htc Home.

Are the tabs are still active in the cab you uploaded? Because it seems if I press anywhere in the area the tabs open up as normal. I was hoping that we would see total remove of the tabs instead of just making them invisible.
