Wow this has some great potential once the SDK gets released. Oh and a WQVGA so I use it!

Re: (Homescreen) Touch One 0.1a - (WVGA/VGA/QVGA) - Download is Up!

Are you on WQVGA?

Most of the default plugins I have made are not supportive of that, I do not have a WQVGA device to use and the Microsoft emulators that do support it won't work (no storage space.. go figure). I could use your help. Unless you meant to put WVGA and not WQVGA.

The SDK for plugins will be released shortly. This weekend I am shooting for. And support for draggable and moveable plugins and program shortcuts is the very next thing to be implemented, that will be coming in the next week.

I'll add the HVGA and WQVGA support this weekend... this weekend looks to be getting really busy, really quick ;-)

My impressions so far:

The eye candy factor is high, it's very nice and the screens are not only easy to navigate, but the transitions are smooth. You did a great job with the layout. I did have a problem getting the weather to update, which for some OCD reason is a deal-breaker for me (don't ask, I couldn't begin to explain). Other than that, things are great so far, and I'm looking forward to future development of this UI :)

No. You can just turn of TouchFlo 3D while you use it and turn TF3D back on if need be. Go to Start->Settings->Today, and click the "items" tab. You can see where you can enable and disable TouchOne and Touch Flo

You should be able to enter your postal code for the weather. Are you in Canada? I do not believe that I tested the weather plugin for a Canadian postal address. I'll look into it.

Wow looks VERY nice.:headbang: I am going to d/l it in a bit when I get to the library, so forgive me if this is already doable, but is it possible for me to switch out the calendar icon on the home screen with one for the calls history? I don't use that calendar EVER but understand that a lot of others do, so I wanted to know if that was customizable.

What you see on the homescreen is a plugin, albeit themed after HTC's Sense UI. However, in the next build you will be able to drag and move icons and apps around wherever you want, just like in Android. If you use the Phone icon, it will take you to call history. At least until I get to work on it tonight.

This remember me a lot WAD2... I think I'll try it, however until it remains "simply" a today plugin probably I will not use, for the simple fact I would like a fast switch between TF3D and Touch One.
Don't take as a critic, simply as a suggestion :)

Its not anything like WAD2, but thanks for the input :)

As for being used as a second today screen that you can fast switch between, I believe there is a cab out there that allows for a 2nd today screen. (http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-...condtoday.html ??)

You can run this with TF3D at the same time, I recommend against it because of memory usage though.

Hello,
already tried, unfortunately I got an Out of Memory error even after a soft reset.
Uninstalled for now.
I have and HTC Touch HD, Xannytech 1.9B ROM (WM 6.5 21870).
By the way, I have exactly the same problem with Androkkid, and I noticed it try to cache all the program icons then crash.
Honestly I have A LOT of installed programs, could be this the cause for Touch One too?
Really curious to play now :)

P.S. I know exist SecondToday, but *for me* (and probably for many) it doesn't work so well as a not today application. Infact I saw very popular application (PhoneAlarm,WAD2,GPSToday) being "forced" by a lot of users request to work in both ways, as today plugin and as stand-alone. My suggestion came from this experience :)

How many apps do you have? Hundreds? I have devised a way to eliminate the Out of memory exception. Will upload tonight.

Thanks. When the SDK is released in the next week it will allow you do customize what particular plugins do, or create your own plugin if you have a bit of XML or Programming knowledge, or someone, myself maybe, can make the plugin that fits your needs. I am trying to design this as best as I can with simplicity yet ultimate customizeability in mind. :)

I have more issues trying to get the software to run in the emulator than I do on a real phone. Mainly space constrictions.

Waiting and hoping the best for your application... It promises a lot, congratulations :)

It should, technically run if you do that. I have however, not tested that. Let me know your results. If it fails to run then I can have that applied in the next build this weekend.

Got a bug to report.

It works GREAT on my HTC Touch, but it is out of position for the layout in WinMob6.5.1 (currently using build 23071). The newer builds have moved the start menu to the bottom. Your plug-in covers up this start menu and leaves a small gap at the top.

Otherwise, honestly I really like it. Clean, simple, Nice and best of all VERY fluid.

EDIT: Screen shots attached. If you look in the first, you can see the narrow band of blue and gold. In the second you can see the new location of the start menu.

Although I admit I haven't personally used spb mobile shell 3.5, and PointUI Home 2.0 (though i have seen many showcase videos) it seems this has to be the fastest UI i've ever seen for windows mobile... I have a htc touch pro 2, and as much eye candy as the manila 2.5 has(using energyrom 6.5) it's actual usability in my opinion is diminished because of it's lack of responsiveness and good layout. I personally hold a very high standard for device functionality which speed and responsiveness are major defining characteristics. I was getting fed up with the slowness of winmo phones (despite at the same time adoring them) before this year's flurry of new phones and even still. But a few software and the developer community gave me hope, s2u2's fluid slider unlocking, phonex actually immediately responsive interface. It should be possible then to actually make another shell that's just as fast, and it seems Touch One is heading in the right direction.

Now of course this is a fairly premature conjecture as this is just an alpha release with relatively low amount of features. It's almost expected that it should be this fast. I hope that as new features are introduced implemented the speed and stability will be unaffected.

tl;dr:
FASTEST UI EVER, Just need the features, but hope doesn't slow down!

Bugs?
For some reason it becomes VERY VERY slow and choppy if i set this to start up on boot up and it just continues to be slow (moving between screens takes seconds.. choppy frames only see a few)
calender unresponsive??

This is something I was aware of from about two weeks ago. I am planning on implementing a check for the windows mobile version 6.5.1 and later to adjust for this, however, because 6.5.1 is not even released or close to it as far as I know, it is something I will have to put off for a short while. Thanks for trying it out tho!

Thanks for your input. The calendar plugin was a sloppy plugin I wrote quickly to test what I could do for the plugin sdk. I will fine tune it, or someone else may make a better version.

To your delight: the way the rendering engine is designed, no amount of layout/plugins can slow it down. I am fine tuning the startup and application icon process and I hope to have that done soon. But yes, all these issues are definately fixable.

Once again, thanks everyone for your valuable time and insight!!!

Re: (Homescreen) Touch One 0.1a - (WVGA/VGA/QVGA) - Download is Up!

Another thing that might help...
running energyroms 6.5
I'm using a glyphcache of 96kb (or i'm wondering if it's really kb, but a value of 98304)
8mb file filter cache, 131072 sectors

that last bit helped manilla 2.5 run very smoothly and quick, though hiccups are still common

It seems the few times I have tried Touch One and have it be as fluid as in the video was after having my phone load up manila 2.5 for a bit, maybe going between all the screens a few times then unloading it and loading Touch One.

Oh and you can link to the youtube video of it running, I think that should show the speed quite well and is an important feature to tout.
edit: nvm I just saw the link

hahaha I had a feeling you did. Yeah, 6.5.1 is still in beta. Honestly, it is now my fav homescreen plugin.

One more question: Is it possible that you can get it to update the programs list when a new program is installed. Currently, afaik you have to restart the plugin to update the list.
