so i intalled this taskbar (verizon version) and it works great...i especially like how it keeps the new manila start screen (with the rows of icons)...but, it did nothing to my volume screen, sound screen or command manager...am i missing something

It just changes some of the icons in the taskbar. It doesn't change any of the screens.

It had always been Ev, but now that the Touch Pro 2 is a Global/World phone it now only shows 3G under stock conditions since GSM does not have EVDO

well with the VZW modified version of the taskbar it also makes the signal strength bars more accurate, 7 bars instead of the stock 5. As a quick test uninstall the taskbar and see if you get the reception you had previously.

Just as a reminder, the modification does NOT modify how your phone sends or receives a voice/data signal, it merely changes the icons the phone uses to display its current status.

BoneZ is correct, this mod does NOTHING to your screen(s), it should only replace the icons that show up in the taskbar.

No need to uninstall because I know what my bars were like before I installed it. And it was the same with every other phone I've had. Full bars here at my house and my job on every phone including the TP2, but not with this taskbar for some reason.

I'm going to try one of tsowen's taskbars to see if it's still the same.

if you prefer not to uninstall the taskbar you could modify the registry back to 5 bars and see what the difference in signal will be

HKCU\ControlPanel\PhoneExtendFunction\CDMA\
SignalStrengthLevel = 7 <- change that to a 5 and soft reset

but there is NO way that installing this taskbar is changing the actual signal that your phone is getting, the signal has to do with the radio, not the icons

I installed that and the data connection now shows with the proper skinned icon (green antenna).

The signal looks better when the registry is set to 5. And of course installing a taskbar does nothing to the actual signal. That should go without saying.
