SMS contact search

Hey everybody, i'm having this wierd thing happening that whenever i go to make a new text message and start typing in the contact name it doesn't change contacts like it should, its like it gets stuck on the first name. However when i use the software keyboard the search function works fine. Any ideas? I spent and hour straight searching for an answer to this, thanks in advance
