they probly removed it because 2.5 was made for winmo6.5! manilla 2.5 has program tabs on the home screen! and winmo 6.5 upgraded the start menu to a more user friendly interface! so htc must have thought that it would have been better to just use the quick launch links on the home screen and leave the start menu to winmo6.5 default!! i am looking into now to see if i can port it into my 6.1/manilla 2.5 rom along with the 6.5 lock software

Any progress on this?

I really like having 48+ (some people have 64 I think) shortcuts in a smooth-scrolling, easily managed menu. The 6.5 Start Menu is just too slow to scroll and if your ROM isn't a 6.5 build that supports the "free-moving" Start Menu icons, you're SOL in terms of easily organizing it. Sure you can arrange it in Explorer, but that's alot more work than is required in the Manila Start Menu.
