I love it how everyone is ratting on DCD, like as if no one remembers what he did.
Did everyone forget he was the first guy to bother writing a custom rom that catered to what users wanted/requested? Yes, DCD's recent roms are based on No2Chems, but that's because No2chem ported an XIP that no one had done before, it was rather revolutionary at the time, so DCD stopped using the alltel core and switched. Originally, he manually did the same thing colonel and anyone else who started from scratch did... break apart someone's stock rom, and start fiddling. He did this originally for his own benefit. But when he saw that some people didn't like all the things that colonel added in his public rom, DCD made a "clean" version. When people had comments/suggestions about that, he started making more versions to cater to their needs, then started making 2 options... a custom and a clean. Basically, he listened to people and tried to help (his personal rom for his own private use is quite different because he doesn't necessarily like what people have been asking for). Until a kitchen is released (or at least one for the masses, that is), this was the most helpful thing anyone could have offered. Colonel has done some revolutionary work here, so don't get me wrong, but his builds are not for everyone. Before DCD came along, whenever some of us would try to talk to him about his rom, we got very cold responses. A lot of immature things have been going on in the chat as well as this board that have hurt many people's feelings, and I think this is true of everyone involved. Its all about someone didn't get credit for this, someone else released something before it was ready, they took our work and repackaged it, etc... Everyone feels like someone's toes are being stepped on. In the end, all this is hurting the community as a whole. I've tried many times to get everyone to work together, but some people don't want to work as a group. And that's fine, but don't call people names when they get fed up and leave. Many of you probably don't know what happened before DCD posted in this thread. Its actually this attitude that will cause more people to leave.

Don't get me wrong as DCD did a lot of good work for those that used his ROMS. My issue is not with his work, but with how he handled himself publicly on this forum recently. The name calling and profanity was way out of line. He initiated the argument with Colonel in this thread. Colonel kept his cool, but others jumped in calling him names which was out of line on their part. He escalated if further with some pretty harsh name calling and lots of profanity. Luckily the mods deleted those posts so others wouldn't have to read them.
If someone wants to post things like that, it should be done via PM and not for all the public to see. I hope he does come back as many enjoy his custom ROMs. However, if he does, he must learn to control his public comments. |

So we all shbould tip toe around dcd? F that.
I appreicate what he has done. But if one comment was enough for him to quit the community he supposedly cared about he didn't give a damn about this place. What kind of person cannot take one comment? If I thought he would leave I would of said something better. Dcd showed his true colors when he acted like a 5 year old and took his ball home. If thats how he really is then good riddance. This is the internet people |

I mentioned already, this was the final straw in a long series of events between colonel and some users. DCD is not the only one who's left or thinking of leaving. Whether it was immature of him to do or not, the response in this forum has been appalling. |

Look here. If DCD has/had a problem with another member on the site (I don't care who it is) he should have dealt with it privately--or agreed not to interact with one another at all if the differences are irreconcilable.
For DCD to come into colonel's thread and start sniping at him was wrong. But then to lash out using every profane word in the book when called on it was where I had to draw the line. And for the record all I did was delete his post and send him a polite PM asking him to deal with personality conflicts via private message in the future--not an unreasonable request by any means. This forum is not going to tolerate vicious attacking of other users. I told DCD in the PM that his efforts were valued but his attitude as displayed in this thread was not. I'd say the same to ANYONE who lashed out and shouted profanity at others the way he did. That stuff does not belong on a public thread in this forum--especially in another user's ROM thread--and that goes for all of these followup posts as well. If you have further comments on the matter then post them in dcd's thread. Or better yet start a new thread in Off Topic. This thread is about colonel's ROM and it is not fair to him or the people that follow the thread to have to sift through all this crap. |

Well to me I was singled out. Dcd quoted my post and edited his first post in HIS thread.
I said one thing and this guy who is supposed to be so dedicated packs up and leaves. Honestly I feel bad that he took it so harshly but that is because I am sympathetic to people. Its a locker-room atmosphere in my opinion and I was having fun. Because obivously some people think I am 12 year old with a PPC. Enjoy life and hav fun, lighten up! |

First, I just want to say that colonel and everyone have been doing an excellent job - and that I think that colonel's rom is pretty darn good. I've been using the Oct 21 version since it was released, and the only thing that I've noticed with it is that the sprint ## codes no longer work. I've tried the <talk> button instead of the final #, but all that does is actually send the call out. ##3282# tries to open up the epst tool, but it just immediately closes.
Other than that, I eagerly await the next version. |
