Alright, I got mtty to work using a few diff Vista things, I'm following http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index...uck_Bootloader

On step 8 it says I will see 'USB>' but I see 'Cmd>' and when I type get 16 0 nothing happens and I just see 'Cmd>' again

EDIT: Oh wow, I went to http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=7049 and used uni_exitbootloader_180.zip and everything is fine now. So to access the bootloader, I just hold ok and power then soft reset, correct?

amoamare 09-26-2007 07:30 PM

O mine to enter bootloader i hold the CAMERA and POWER Button then i soft reset that gets me into bootloader

Author : Olipro from xda-Developers

OK, the unlocker is available, simply click the link below to download, and you're free to run it.

do pay attention to the instructions, it's a pretty simple process.

Cheers again to ImCoKeMaN for HaReT, and letting me piss about with his device.

I've never done this

I have never reset or flashed the the phone . So I am sorry but could someone help me out. What does this program do for the phone. And I started installing it and it said that I would lose all data on the phone. So could someone answer this. Is this like a hard reset but I am guessing that this is the flashing of the ROM. So this brings me to my first question what is the pay off here of installing this? Help!

Olipro 09-26-2007 10:51 PM

if you want, either use Uni reset OR:

disable activesync and access the phone in Mtty.

press enter.
type: set 16 0
press enter
type: task 8
press enter

job done.

Artanis 09-27-2007 12:28 AM

safe safe,. or safe for noobs?

use as text book to learn how to hack?

So.. with this I can reg edit the hell out of it and just reload in case of failed edit..?

Does this work cross roms.... can I load the an elf rom?

or just use to learn how to reprogram.

ImCoKeMaN 09-27-2007 12:37 AM

Windows mobile roms are not compatible accross different devices no matter how safe the bootloader is so there is no need to try that.

But registry editing has always been safe, just hard reset if the device doesn't like the reg edits. You will lose all your data, but device will be fine

You know... there was NO reason whatsoever to flood the forum with your crap. One post was more than enough...... Just be patient and wait until someone comes on to tell you how to fix it.

But seriously if you don't even know what it does, why the fuck did you install it?

Some people's children...

why is everyone messing with bootloader anyways at this point, especially if you dont know what youre doing? theres NOTHING you can really do with it right now as theres no ROM to load so why bother playing with it risking bricking your phone at least till theres something to do with it, like load a custom ROM when theyre ready.

Well, maybe if you made a imgfs tool that could make a rom with a 2k sector size...

divxrippimp 09-27-2007 03:24 AM

I agree... people who ask questions like "how do i answer a call?" are stopping in
here like "how do i write a custom rom and write it to the phone, plz write it smpl, thx! im knew to this"

If you cant use bootloader, then youre def. not playing with something more complex like rom dumps, hence no reason to mess with it

I would like to say thanks to the creators of this and other tools that have now allowed me to create a WM6 ROM for my Telecom New Zealand Titan.

We were never going to see WM6 and now I have the Telus ROM installed on my Titan.

All I can say is wow, what an improvement.

You have my appreciation.

What's Mtty?

colonel 09-27-2007 09:47 AM

I agree. If you are not completely comfortable with any of these tools (mentioned already and unmentioned) then wait. If you are not comfortable with the possibility of not having a functional phone for a little while or a long time, wait. There will be streamlined, b00n friendly tools for all of the process in time.

KingGanon 09-27-2007 01:02 PM

so is it worth it to put the Alltel rom on, or just wait for the customs to come out?

btw thank u to ImCoKeMaN and Olipro, for finally cracking the mogul. i was already getting bored :-D

MannyPR 09-27-2007 01:18 PM

Rule of thumb, if you don't know what you are doing and how to backtrack your steps out the shitty hole you got yourself in then don't do it. Let the uber geeks fine tune it and then every question will be answered.

Thanks to Olipro and the rest of the gang for an awesome development. I wish I knew half the stuff that you guys do and be able to contribute to the community like you guys do.

Exactly ;)

A question for all the folks asking the rudimentary questions:

Did you bother to do any research on your own first? Read a few dozen threads to try to get up to speed before asking basic questions? Because that's what the rest of us did.

Oh... and the most obvious question: If I had table with several bottles of liquids on it, all unmarked, would you walk up to it and just start randomly drinking from the bottles? No? I thought so. Then why the heck do you think it's ok to randomly start messing around with a $300 - $500 device using methods you haven't fully researched yet?

Hopefully there will be a cornucopia of finalists for the Darwin Awards this year...

wood 09-27-2007 03:57 PM

I just thought I would offer input as a new person to the ppc world.

Forums are for spreading knowledge. That is the purpose of them. It is very rude for someone to be arrogant and instantly criticize someone because they asked a question that you already know the answer to....

I totally understand that a lot of questions can be answered by simply reading stickies, past threads, search, etc. However, this is a thread about something completely brand new for the 6800 that has not been released before. A lot of the "newbies" have very simple questions about this brand new unlocker for the 6800... what is it good for? what does it do? etc.

It is sad that the "holier than thou" syndrome persists even when there is a topic about something just released that beginners have never heard of nor know anything about. I am extremely excited about the potential for this unlocker because it seems to have potential. However, I dont know what it does...

Once again, many thanks to the developers. There has been A TON of great stuff I have read/downloaded/installed/tweaked on my 6800 because of developers on here and other ppc forums (led killer, x button, htc home, esmertec jbed, opera mini, etc.). Trust me, I use the search tool a lot and definitely do my research before installing anything on the mogul. However, this unlocker is totally new and I have no clue what its great potential is really capable of.

it firstly prevents you from bricking your phone from a bad flash.

it secondly allows you to flash any ROM to the device, including custom ROMs; without a patched SPL, you can't flash anything except HTC updates for your brand.

Isriam 09-27-2007 04:23 PM

6800 is unlocked. go to xda to check it out. i flashed alltel rom to sprint mogul perfectly.

Midnght_J 09-27-2007 04:27 PM

Good to hear cuz i get my 6800 tomorrow....

That sounds pretty cool.

Here are some questions I have about the potential of patching the spl, allowing custom roms:

1) How much improvement do you estimate being able to install custom roms will create versus the stock rom? Like a percentage of sorts- improvement in performance could be over 50% . If you know what I mean. I know that the answer all depends on the actual custom rom you install as well as many other variables. I am just curious as to the potential of custom roms basically....

2) Olipro- you seem to be very knowledgeable obviously. Do you plan on creating custom roms for the 6800? I have seen you created roms for the hermes....

Thanks,
Ryan

I would think that once the custom rom's get going, their will be rom's optimized for performance. I know on my old 6700 most of the custom rom's ran significantly better than the stock rom. Some of the reasons they run better are because all of the new AKU releases are incorporated into the custom rom's. Htc or sprint won't update the device enough to include all of those. For example on the 6700, I think the latest AKU release directly from sprint was 2.2 iirc. Custom rom's go up to AKU 3.5. That in and of itself makes the device run better.

I haven't noticed a performance increase with the alltel rom. The reason isriam and I (and a few others) switched roms is because Alltel has "real" picture messaging. We use our phone's on cricket, and couldn't receive pics with the sprint rom.
