3 Attachment(s)
Note: This thread is assuming you have successfully gotten nueROM3 to flash before. If you haven't then instructions will be provided later.

Ok I got the attachments uploaded. The .zip file is simply put into the Projects folder of BuildOS and the .rars are into the Kitchens folder. Don't unrar the rars but unzip the zip. Kudos to dan and no2 of course. I'm merely reposting this for the community.

Let me know if you have problems or you can hit Dan or I up in the chat room.

A few tips:

"Download NueROM_Unified Kitchen 206 from page 3 of the NueROM portion of the Donator CP section of http://www.nuerom.com/BlogEngine/, and add the 297 Mb file to the Kitchens folder of BuildOS, along with the other 2 .rar files provided here." - Robtao

Yes the volume may want to default to going off. If you cook nueWifiSwitch in then just go to Start->Settings->Hardware Switch and play with it there. Just turn your wifi switch on.

Make sure you remap the camera button. For some reason when you disable the camera it locks the phone up. Or just be careful not to hit it.

MAKE SURE TO MAKE A NEW SELECTIONS TEXT FILE OFF OF THE NEW BASES YOU JUST PUT INTO BUILDOS.

Sample selections text file:
Code:

SelectionsVersion=.90.04
[BaseGroup]=GroupFile=Groups\BuildBases\WM6.1_96DPI_QVGA_NueROM_0409_BuildBase.txt

Just so I am sure about this: These changes/hacks allow one to build nueROM3 206 Titan kitchen with the latest version of PPC Kitchen... Correct?

IOW, if we get the latest PPCKitchen, load the nueROM 206 kitchen into in, then apply these fixes, we can build a new ROM for the Titan?

Goto Settings -> System-> Hardware Switch
It changes the wireless switch to a ringer switch.
I had this problem at first too.
I love it though.

As for this ROM, It is very clean.
No issues, very quick.

I had been hoping no2chem would get this completed, but have been giving up. Thank You so much for doing this!

As opposed to several people hitting you up in the chat, could you update the OP w/ some basics... Perhaps your selections.txt would be a good start.

I still keep hoping no2chem will finish his project, but I understand, I mean he has moved on phone wise, I get it.

Again I don't mean to be so "obvious" but Thanks!

Re: nueROM3-206 w\ PPCKitchen BuildOS (Updated 1/23/08)

It's the 931 base. Sorry but that's the base that nueROM is built off of and the only way you are going to get it to work better is to flash the older 20273 build of 6.1. You could talk to dan about it on IRC and he might have an idea of how to do that.

MrObvious: OK I have the kitchen all loaded (and updated). I see where to put the three files you have given us; but is there somewhere special I need to put the actual nueROM3 206 files that I have (I donated)? Do they still go in the Kitchen\nueROM folder? Or somewhere else?

And finally, any error messages that come up that I can just ignore? I did see some but am not sure if they mean anything.

Just put it in the Kitchen\nueROM folder as always. And if it asks if you want to replace push Yes. Are you getting any other errors?

I was missing a few files :???:. The only error messages I am now getting is regarding 'Track me/CellId' but I assume I can ignore those since I don't use that.

I'll give it a shot now. And I will make sure I answer YES to any replace prompts.

Thanks!

Re: nueROM3-206 w\ PPCKitchen BuildOS (Updated 1/23/08)

Mr. Obvious, seems to work fine now. Only two things bother me:
  • For some reason, my EV icon on the top bar (I'm on Verizon) seems to keep flashing from EV to an antenna icon and back to EV. It didn't do that before.
  • I had over 30MB free RAM once I booted the first time. After I installed a lot of my apps I am down to only 26MB free after booting. Weird, cause I didn't install any memory resident stuff (I don't think) but I can't figure where that extra 4MB went.
Other than that seems to work OK. I'll put it thru the paces tomorrow, and repost then.

Hmm. I think it could be a memory leak in your selections or your today screen is fubared. As far as the EV it's probably the wi-fi needing to be turned off.

That's what I thought too (about the wireless)... but from what I can see it is not on! I have the hardware switch off, and I believe it is off from the CPL. Is there anywhere else I need to check? I use Verizon internet rather than the wifi stuff. ](*,)

For some reason it has stopped doing this. Seems to be working fine now. I fiddled around with the hardware switch setting (it was already off for WiFi so I turned it on and then back on a few times) and now works fine.

Wierd... Anyway things working OK here, and memory usage is great! (~25Mb free even with WAD2 running!)

Which selections are you using? My selections are not guaranteed because I lost my original when I made my ROM when I had to reinstall Vista. (Regcleaner mistake!) And AFAIK MMS should work with Alltel. You may have to reinstall Arcsoft from the cab but other then that it works.

Re: nueROM3-206 w\ PPCKitchen BuildOS (Updated 1/23/08)

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I've had no luck getting this ROM to work. The ROM gets installed just fine but when the device boots up it just hangs at the 2nd stage of the boot process. I've tried removing the battery for a minute and hard resetting afterwards to no avail but it continues to hang at the 2nd screen of the boot process. Here's what I did:

I placed the two .rar files in the kitchens folder and extracted the .zip file to the /projects folder as instructed. I also downloaded the unified 206 .rar file and placed the file in the /Kitchens folder. Just to make sure, I also created a folder called /nueROM in the /Kitchens folder and extracted the contents from the unified 206 archive into /nueROM.

I start up BuildOS and it finds the selections list. I make my selections and hit the play button. The build goes through fine with a couple of prompts to overwrite a few files. I get to the RUU screens and it seems to update the device just fine. It uploads the ROM 100% and the device then reboots but hangs after a few seconds in the boot process.

Anyone know what I'm doing wrong???

MrObvious 01-28-2009 01:37 PM

Re: nueROM3-206 w\ PPCKitchen BuildOS (Updated 1/23/08)

Ah. You must be using an old selection text file. Try making a new one.

OffUrRcker 01-28-2009 11:18 PM

Re: nueROM3-206 w\ PPCKitchen BuildOS (Updated 1/23/08)

mrobvious, you don't need to download the nuerom kitchen rar. The rar you uploaded contains the whole Titan kitchen, and nowhere in the Device or Build bases is the NueROM folder referenced. Are you telling people to download the whole rar just so it doesn't seem like you're circumventing no2chem's request that everyone donate to be able to put nuerom on their phones?

Also, my battery dies super fast with this rom. Usually, this happens when bluetooth or wifi are activated and I don't realize, but I checked commmanager, and both are inactive. However, when I go to beam settings, bluetooth and IrDA are checked, meaning they're enabled. Does this mean they have the capability to be turned on, or that they are actually on and draining my battery?

OffUrRcker 01-28-2009 11:20 PM

Re: nueROM3-206 w\ PPCKitchen BuildOS (Updated 1/23/08)

Oh and also, everyone make sure you download the 20931 kitchen through updater, as this build uses its XIP patch.

MrObvious 01-28-2009 11:31 PM

Re: nueROM3-206 w\ PPCKitchen BuildOS (Updated 1/23/08)

You may want to cook a comm manager with 10 keys first off. And this isn't the whole nueROM kitchen, just the hacked Titan Core that you need for this to work (from the way I understand it). Also, yeah you have to have nueROM3 downloaded and donated too AFAIK.

Try also going through Scrap's Advanced Configuration and playing with the power settings. My battery does fine.

OffUrRcker 01-29-2009 01:52 AM

Re: nueROM3-206 w\ PPCKitchen BuildOS (Updated 1/23/08)

I have the 10 button glossy manager... everything shows as deactivated. I unchecked all the boxes in no2chem's replacement beam CPL, and now my battery seems to be doing okay.

Nah though, with the rar you uploaded, you don't need the whole kitchen. All you need is your Titan Core, and the 20931 kitchen files.

Re: nueROM3-206 w\ PPCKitchen BuildOS (Updated 1/23/08)

This still doesn't work for me. Just hangs at the 2nd splash screen. I've tried everything people here have mentioned. It might be helpful to post some sort of step-by-step instructions with the assumption that this is the first time nueROM was installed.

Thanks in advance for your help.
