GPS Detected but doesn't work - DCD 3.3.4

I just purchased a XV6800 (Verizon) and installed DCD 3.3.4. I have read countless threads and cannot find a way to get the GPS to work. I have tried radio versio 3.42.30, 3.42.40, and 3.42.50. None of them are working for me. Google Maps and TomTom can both detect the GPS, but they don't receive any signal rom satellites.

I have put all phone settings as they should be according to the Titan GPS FAQ. Are there are other steps I can take before starting registry editing or any other advanced troubleshooting? (I'm looking to get this working ASAP since I don' have a lot of extra tim to be screwing around with this phone!)

Thanks!

Did you install MR1 or did it come with it?

Windows Mobile 6.1 was on the phone when I purchased it. That IS what "MR1" is, correct? Also, aGPS only works if you have a data plan, correct? I do not have a data plan, so I'm not sure if I need to do any aGPS fix or not.

I don't know if this helps, but here is some data from by Device Info screen.
PRL version 51143
PRI Version 2.03_002

Also, here's the order I did things it when I received the phone...
Updated radio to 3.42.50
Updated to DCD 3.3.4

When the radio didn't work for GPS at 3.42.50, I tried going back and forth to 30, 40 and 50 with no results. The GPS IS detected, but the applications tell me it couldn't get any data. ie "Seeking GPS satellites (0)..." in Google Maps.

I think there is more info on XDA about the MR1 flash. I think that is your problem. Also try the AGPS hack.

I had the same problem. Verizon MR1 locks out standalone GPS. You need to relock the phone and flash with an older none gps Verizon ROM. Look here. http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread...=verizon+stock

Then reflash the DCD ROM.

Then change the setting in QPST and registry listed here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=458923

Search the listed threads well. All the info you need is out there. PM me if you have questions and can't find the answers

Are there any registry entries or anything I could check to verify this is what actually happened? I have very little free time and am hoping to avoid going backwards and re-flashing everything! Thanks!

Re: GPS Detected but doesn't work - DCD 3.3.4

Standalone GPS does not work if you were on MR1 and didn't flash backwards before DCD. There is just no way around it because the Verizon PRI blocks standalone GPS allowing only AGPS. Sorry. I had the same problems.

Always press the green thanks button on the right if I have helped you.

Excellent! I think I'm following you.

I don't see any version numbers on the Stock Verizon Rom linked to on this thread. How do I know if that rom is old enough?

It is an old rom don't worry about it. It is version like 2.5 or something like that.

Re: GPS Detected but doesn't work - DCD 3.3.4

  1. Download all necessary files 1) Titan Re-locker 2) Stock Verizon ROM 3) ROM Update Utility
  2. Unzip/rar the Stock ROM and the RUU (unrar using WinRAR) ****DO NOT UNZIP THE RELOCKER**** (it is a self extracting zip and will run properly as is)
  3. Place the Ruu_signed.nbh file in the RUU folder
  4. Hard reset your phone by holding down both softkeys, hitting reset, and pressing R (just for good measure)
  5. Connect your phone to your PC and make sure ActiveSync is connected
  6. Re-lock your phone by running Titan_Relocker.exe
  7. Place the stock Verizon ROM in the RUU folder
  8. Run the RUU by running ROMUpdateUtility.exe
  9. For good measure, let the Verizon ROM complete its setup.
Am I missing something here? Step 3 says "Place the Ruu_signed.nbh file in the RUU folder. Step 7 says "Place the stock Verizon ROM in the RUU folder". Aren't these the same file? Why am I doing the same thing twice? (Step 1 , file link "Stock Verizon ROM" goes to a file called Ruu_signed.nbh)
