NueRom Unified Kitchen - No2Chem's *official* response

As many of you know, NueRom3 unified kitchen 206 does not work out of the box with the latest PPCKitchen.

There have been countless threads and people on the chat struggling to get the latest nuerom kitchen to work properly, however very little has been heard from no2chem on the subject.

Well, after struggling with it and *almost* getting it to work, I happened to bump into no2chem online and had a little chat with him about it.

The good news:
No2chem has NOT abandoned us, and plans to release a new kitchen compatible with the latest BuildOS out of the box (and hopefully won't break with future updates).

The bad news:
The reason a new working version hasn't been put up yet is because no2chem doesn't even have it working on his own system yet!

The poor guy's aware that its broken, but has to find the time to get it working on his own box, and then release a fixed kitchen base.

It could happen as quickly as tomorrow (Friday), but let's see what happens. I'm just glad it'll work soon.

Re: NueRom Unified Kitchen - No2Chem's *official* response

The new ppckitchen changed the syntax of the xipfilename= line and uses a different method for calculating the pagepool location. Once you've fixed the xipfilename= line and removed the pagepool= line from the selections.txt (or selected DEFAULT in buildos or verified the calculated pagepool address is correct in the log), the ppckitchen update is not the issue.

EDIT: Looking into the pagepool thing...it is indeed broken on apache/titan/vogue bases when not using DEFAULT. We'll get that fixed shortly.

Re: NueRom Unified Kitchen - No2Chem's *official* response

GGuru, I didn't blame it entirely on the BuildOS update!
Remember, I went over this with you and we "fixed" the config and selections, yet could not build a bootable rom.

There DOES appear to be an issue with the sprint radio... not sure how this worked on previous versions. Either way, no2chem has voiced his desire to play with his titan, and in order to do that he'll have to get his own kitchen environment up and running for himself!

Once he does that, he told me he'll post his working environment up for all of us.

Re: NueRom Unified Kitchen - No2Chem's *official* response

Apparently GGuru tested it and got it running without much effort.
I feel like I tried this already, and I'm too tired to go at it again now (3am here), but if anyone wants to try, let me know your results!

1) extract the selections and kitchen_config txts (GGuru recommends leaving everything packed in rar form, so just take out what we need, and we'll put kitchen_config back later)

2) update the buildOS version in the text (instead of ending with .03, update to .04)

3) find the line in kitchen_config that starts XipFilename=, and change to:
XipFilename=Titan,nueROM3,xip_patch_20931.bin
<ROM_OS_ID>=Titan,nueROM3

4) load into BuildOS, select ALL NO2CHEM STUFF!

5) build, flash.

That's all GGuru said he needed to do, and it booted. :/

Re: NueRom Unified Kitchen - No2Chem's *official* response

Yup.....thats pretty much what I did & it worked for me also loading an ALLTEL 6800 to 20931/NueRom's Unified kitchen (cuz it gets me the no-camera-more-memory setup)/Added Scotts M2D to the OEM/used Mikeee's Selection ( which had all the "correct" SYSTEM selections pre-checked). Took a couple of tries I have to admit.

Now if I could JUST get that NueEXT Rom unlocker to work.....I could load a few things up there & save even more Sys Ram for stability' sake.

If I was gonna recommend somethin to No2Chem, it'd be to pre-select the 80 or so SySTEM selections & lock em...or just hide em all together for us great-unwashed users

I noticed the PAGEPOOL in my new selection file was at 4 when it used to be at 6...wondered about that.

anyway....I'm NOT complainin...just reporting. Thx all uze guyz who take the time to make a great work like No2Chem's work for us laymen.

Re: NueRom Unified Kitchen - No2Chem's *official* response

Ok, just to update everyone-
I tried my posted steps above on a fresh install of BuildOS and the nuerom kitchen files. I still get the same errors that seem to prevent the device from booting:
Internal Error - Option.xml GUID not found (Sprint 3.35 ....
and something about missing carrier OEMs

GGuru, did you get these errors when you tried? Did your device boot anyway?
