A few things u can try....turn down the brightness to as far as you can see it (unless its chargin...then u can crank it all da way up). Also turn off stuff u aint usin like if bluetooth is enabled, turn it off. If your phone's data arrows are movin, but u aint surfin da net or nuthin, turn it off. Basic stuff like that will get your phone a lil more juice. What im gonna do is buy an extended battery. It makes my Titan a lil more bulky, but the battery im gonna get will allow me to go probably bout a week without charging and with brightness and all dat good stuff at full throttle. |

Re: Battery Performance
I have noticed this too. I went from the latest official ROM to a build of the PPCGeeks kitchen ROM. I have the same setup, apps and usage patterns. At first, I thought it was just my imagination. But after longer use, I definitely noticed less battery life during normal daily operation. I was surprised because I figured the custom roms had battery tweaks. I'm glad to see others notice this and mention it. Not many people want to admit that sometimes the changes and tweaks made in these roms have possible repercussions on battery life. This is definetly NOT a imagined effect. Future revisions of the rom may have become better (i need to update) but there is definitely a decrease in battery life with all the same settings and brightness.
I don't use TouchFlo 2D or anything intensive. I figured it must have been due to some performance tweaks that possibly caused the power to drain quicker. IMO, battery life is more important than the very marginal speed and free RAM increase that some of these Roms offer. I always leave my BT on because I use the headset often to talk even when I'm at home. The changes to the BT in the custom rom may improve performance/quality but increase its drain on the battery. This could be the culprit too and it seems most likely. I'm considering switching back to stock rom for more reliable battery life. Sadly, it looks like battery life with the Touch Pro is even more of an issue. Apparently, it drains even faster than the mogul.

Re: Battery Performance
I notcied the same. I came from MR1 to a custom and my battery life is okay, but not as good as MR1. I am just hoping the kitchen guys can find out what is in the offical ROM doing this so that the build in the kitchen can have the same thing...

Re: Battery Performance
Maybe you can use Scraps Advanced Config and edit your power settings there. It also exists in the registry but this gives you a nice GUI. Check the stickies for more info.

Re: Battery Performance
well, every time I load a new rom, I open up acbPowermeter to see what it's draining, and I never stray too far from 125 mA average. This is true of current roms, past roms, any rom pretty much, including heavily tweaked no2chem roms. If you are experiencing extreme power drains, you might want to look into using your device a little different. I keep my data connection in an always on state, locked in so it won't disconect, and my battery lasts as long now as it ever did. Yes, it did seem to last a little longer on one or two of the older builds, but things like beam and whatnot were broken on those builds. I would check the comm manager to make sure stuff like beam is off. Failing that, maybee there is some meritt to the idea that radio affects battery life, but I was on 3.35, 3.39, and 3.42 each for a month, and noticed no difference from one radio to the next.
