Re: nueROM-S / nueROM-M / nueROM3

I nueKerneled myself a pagepool of 10MB. Screen rotation is on par with 20755 now. I'm idling with only palm's threaded sms app open on boot at 14.97 mb ram free. Haha.

What does this mean. I dont think it finished customizing. the screen wouldnt work and no hardware buttons would work so I soft-reset it and it works now but the task manager is missing and the little square around the ok/close buttons doesnt show and the IE hardware button doesnt work. Did I do something wrong?

You need to skip the customization. Either flash it again, or hold both soft buttons (The dots) in, and use your stylus to hard reset it. Then when you first boot, reset it with just the stylus before it starts customization

It happens because you still have the stock Sprint files on your Extended ROM

Or you can delete them before you hard reset with this: http://www.nuerom.com/BlogEngine/page/nueExtROM.aspx

Then you shouldn't have to worry about it again

Re: nueROM-S / nueROM-M / nueROM3

I loved this rom but could not get IOTA to work on it. It would provision for several minutes & then give me an error saying it failed. Which means I had no internet. Any fix for this? Sorry I'm a tad new to this newfangled rom flashing business.

Have you installed your carrier CAB?

Yes, but then what's the point? You kill the camera, get 8mb free, then consume 10 (2 more than you had WITH the camera) to get it running smoothly again.

All this just to match the performance of a 755 rom. The 755 rom would also let you still use the camera, and have just as much memory free. So why?

I tried it just to see, and yes, it does respond better, but as I said before, I have the same setup now as my 755 rom, sans camera capability. Seems outlandishly silly to run like this.

How is it that screen redraws are specifically sluggish?
I think there's a bad driver creating lag in only specific situations. Its definitely NOT a system wide slow down, so its probably something that can be narrowed down and identified as a culprit. And by the way, its NOT only in screen rotations, I notice it occasionally when opening screens that have a lot of dynamically sized fields and menus to draw (ie. forms and tables that adapt to the size of your screen). Once it is open and rendered, I can swap back forth relatively easy, but its the initial drawing that lags. Makes sense that it would slow down every time you rotate.

Re: nueROM-S / nueROM-M / nueROM3

Oh yeah, and one more thing I noticed, and found no one commented on...

Anyone play music on this rom? The CPU seems to want to sleep more often than normal, and not stay alive during music playback like it is supposed to.
That means that if you don't tap the screen every so often, the song will suddenly shut off on you and stop playing.
Even using a2dp, I used to be able to shut off the power and have it continue playing. Now, it still does that, but a min later it starts to stutter and eventually stop if I don't press the power button to wake the screen again. Very weird...
all in all, I'm finding this ROM needs more work to be useful to someone like me... Although the memory kernel is a HUGE breakthrough!

Oh, I see, you're not actually running anything.
I have a bunch of background apps I prefer to have, such as VC, Homescreen++, Ultimate launch... on 755, I had about 17mb free on boot.

Either way, your solution doesn't seem to make that much sense to me.
