WModem on WM6.1 Verizon

Is there a way to get a working WModem setup on WM6.1? I have the xv6800 and have been using WMWifi, but I would prefer to be tethered in some cases. Thanks!

Re: WModem on WM6.1 Verizon

I would like to know the same thing. Now any time that I try to tether my laptop, it connects using DUN, but I get the Verizon "To sign up for broadband access, dial 1-800-blah blah blah". After that I can't even use the browser on the phone. I have to call Verizon and have them reprovision. I've tried all of the reg hacks for multi-NAI, etc, but nothing works now. And I'm sure that Verizon is starting to catch on that I'm not just hard resetting my phone this often....LOL

Re: WModem on WM6.1 Verizon

I agree that tethering is way better as it's less stress on the CPU of the phone which marginally increases ping times and throughput.

Have you had a look at:http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=27313 ?

I put together this oem and cab a while ago and have been meaning to update it for everyone... The OEM has a bad dsm file, but the cab installer works. I will be posting an update soon along with a new program that automatically installs the drivers.

Try the version of WModem in the link above. It's version 2.25.... I came across version 2.36 from the latest Verizon ROM but that version has the check to see if you pay for tethering and then sends you to a page to self provision it if you don't. Version 2.25 does not have this and the cab sets the correct reg entries.

I have been using it all along, in fact I used it yesterday to stream the NASCAR race from my BeyondTV box at home to my laptop while I was at work to get around the work firewall.

EDIT: 10/21/08 - Update to Wmodem OEM posted
