Question Openmoko Om 2008 Is it possible to run on a Titan?

I came across this today and was wondering if this is similar to Android? I know that this is a GSM phone but could it be ported to CDMA?

Re: Openmoko Om 2008 Is it possible to run on a Titan?

No, it won't work.

That software is made for Samsung CPUs and has zero support for the MSM7x00 family.

It also has extensive API calls to the SMedia 3D accelerator built into it, which would obviously not work on our devices either.

Om 2008 is not meant to be a broad-spectrum, cross-platform OS at this time. Its a development OS built only to support the hardware in the OpenMoko device.

Re: Openmoko Om 2008 Is it possible to run on a Titan?

Yeah, it's overall a fantastic concept, but it is very device-specific. Their idea was to make one device and one open-source OS for that device and then unleash it for the users to create their own interfaces, software, etc. to make the phone 100% theirs. And I think it's a brilliant concept.

Google's idea is to make an open-source OS for a wide variety of phone platforms in order to make it easy to make software for it that makes it more usable while keeping a common feel. Also a great idea, and the one I'm most intrigued by right now, simply because I don't have the skills to take the first one to its limits. And also because I'm happily on Sprint and never expect to see the OpenMoko hit my carrier.
